    * Hey, Daddy!

    Thank you laugh

P.S. It appears that you've joined the select few whose posts have by chance started a new page on this thread, i.e. Sven Dullah on page 3Novica on page 4, IceDragonArt on page 7, and now Hylas on page 12.
Now you may have noticed that the final letter is missing from the current thread title "
Art ? From the cheapskate ? You're joking, aren't you ? The only thing you'll find here is cra" - most people will subconciously add a 'p'.
But if you click one of the page links (at the top or bottom of each page) and find yourself on a page where the first post is by the cheapkate, e.g. page 2, you'll find that this is not the case...
So if any of the select few wish to add an alternative ending to the current thread title then you're most welcome - simply edit the post of yours that happened to start a new page. (I used heading 1 and bold for mine).
Of course, at some unforeseen time the thread title will change again and the title endings will no longer make any sense - but who cares ? This is high art ! Performance art with audience participation ! ...

    ...or perhaps it's just cra...

    Is that the famous cra?

Could be, but I don't play with cra - it's highly combustible and explodes on contact with water. Or was that potassium ? Or maybe I'm thinking of depth charges ? Or ungreased walruses. I digress.

But that's an interesting idea, it could be rabbit cra, cos that does comes in little round pellets. But I can't imagine why I'd be playing with rabbit cra - it doesn't have much use, apart from filling little brown paper bags*

*my grandfather used to collect it in little brown paper bags when we went for walks in the countryside. One of his favourite jokes would be to ask later  "Would you like a sweet?" while proffering a little brown paper bag...

Coal ? Could be that too. I like playing with coal and it tastes good too !

    But no.

Another clue (or 2 or 3) ? See the attached pictures...

Yes, I'm trying to bake my own seamless* gravel textures using Blender 2.79b**. But baking the displacement is turning out to be a problem because it's not the usual baking a high res model to a low res model. What I have is a couple of hundred individual pebble meshes that I dropped into an invisible tray, so it's 3-5 pebbles deep, and I'm baking that to a flat plane via an orthogonal camera. And no matter what I try with the distance and bias settings for the displacement bake I get a wonky bake.

That's why I took a break and imported the OBJ into Poser, just to see what it looked like.

*Not seamless yet I know, but I know how to do that because I did something similar 9 years ago...

**Blender 2.8 told me my laptop was too crappy and refused to run. My laptop crashed a few months later, I did a fresh reinstall of Win 10, and Blender 2.9 actually runs on it. But my laptop doesn't like it and starts getting rather hot, so I'm stuck at 2.79b.

Worked out the problem baking the displacement - it seems to be a matter of scale. My tray of gravel was about 10 units by 10. I reduced it to about 1x1 and it baked fine. Here's a screenshot to remind me:

And applying the result to a single face (yes, just 4 vertices) in Poser Firefly (DS 3Delight should work too, but Poser Superfly and DS Iray won't cos they don't do micropolygon displacement):

That does indeed look rather like coal to me - thanks mainly to the unintentional displacement-step artefacts I think. Here's the Poser shader, should be easy to knock up something similar in DS 3Delight

I've also attached the baked displacement. It doesn't cover the full dynamic range, so my distance/bias settings for the Blender bake were probably a bit high

Well, it seems that nobody's interested in my coal baking or ice islands (I can't say I blame you - I found those rather dull too) so yes, it's time for another piece of the more usual cra from yours truly.

For this one I think I like the title...

    Caught...

"Hi Lil', Evie said you might be dropping by. Are the lads coming on down too?"

Evie is of course Evangeline, who anybody who's been paying attention will no doubt recognise (for those who haven't, see below, then put this dunce's cap on and go and stand in the corner facing the wall while the rest of us try to quietly sneak out while stifling our giggles).

Lil' is of course Evie's cousin Liliana Lith, part time exotic dancer at the Six Aces Casino.

Absolutely no idea about this one. Don't know where she came from, what she's doing, who she is, or why a render of her appeared on my computer...

    I like her though :o)

However, she says her legs are cold and the outfit's not practical for mountaineering.

nky insane ranting... with extra marmalade and mayonnaise

I've been away from my computer for a month and a half, but when I got back I found these on it. Maybe I was doing something that I've totally forgotten about before I went away ?

Or maybe my computer got bored ?

Whoops ! I didn't spot the buttocky poke-through until I added the larger images above. Apologies to any mod / admin - I'll reupload an edited version to replace it... some time... perhaps...

Anyway, while I was away I had some scraps of paper on which I jotted down a couple of things that came to mind, which I'll re-jot here before I lose the scraps:

Don & Pete Concrete - (I think I misread a sign for 'concrete' as 'don+pete')

Some book-title-y stuff over there ---->

Another line of poetic cursing - if you can't tell the old from the new it's "may your standing be more kneelier" which I think is rather clever [smug]

I obviously had an imaginary advertisement for an album by, I think, some sort of country singer - with an oilslicky voiceover intoning "including such classics as..."

    • Ugly Sue   ...(perhaps Malodourous Sue ?) song lyrics playing in the background... "You're so ugly you make the donkey sick..."
    • If I Was A Dog I'd Bite Your Leg  ...or Face ? (Ass is too obvious) - song, waltz style, playing in the background... "If I was an ass, I wouldn't be yours, not for all the bananas in Sweden*..."
    • Actions Speak Louder Than Words  ...Except When I'm Acting To You ? Especially When Done With A Mallet ?

And some lyrics without a title - "If a***holes like you go to heaven, I think I'd prefer it in hell". But I think I've heard that before so it's probably a real song

Yes, the scraps of paper were quite small. And few in number.

*the alternative version has "not for all the ti-tum-tii's in China" - you'll have to guess what ti-tum-ti** is. It got the song banned in several countries...
    **it introduces a pleasant rhyme

All I can think of is the risk of hyperthermia with exposed skin in space. I know totally too practical and real to the art of pinups. I am not allowing the suspension of disbelief to take its necessary course.

What makes you think she's in space ?

The craft in the background is her ship, which in fact goes underwater.

And she's it's captain. She's a pirate captain, and it looks like she be boardin' this 'ere thread !

You're too modest.  You've probably forgotten more than I'll learn, but you don't seem to take it super-serious.   Mirror text a good example.  Behing able to type "Emergency" for to show in someone's review mirror might come in handy.
