New User Question about making things emissive
A number of YouTube videos and tutorials I have watched talk about making things emissive. One said to apply the Iray emissive shader to the object. When I tried that, nothing happened, no light parameters as in the video.
How can I make something, like a plane, emissive?
Thanks for your help.

Here's a quick run-through for plane emissives: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/1537206/#Comment_1537206

Thanks for your response. The bad news is that your steps in the forum are what I did. I create the plane, apply the emissive shader (both with and without clicking the uber base first) and nothing happens. I don't get the parameters to set any of the properites.
The one difference I noticed is after clicking the shader, there is not the drop down arrow by the plane to show default as in your example.
Any other ideas?
You created the plane, selected the plane in the scene tab, and then selected the surface in the surface tab before applying the shader? Selecting the surface is very important, because otherwise the parameters for Iray will not be applied to the plane.
As for the aroow, that you will get when you select the all rotations selection instead of the pointer.
One way to be sure you have both item adn surface selected is to use the Surface Selection tool - that should get both, except for a few special cases like the eyes where two surfaces overlap.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! By Jove, I think I've got it.
