When animating, I want to put a keyframe on all objects and children at a particular time (like a freeze frame). I'm sure you can do this, just forgotten how to do it! (getting old).

At the top of the Sequencer, there is a row of three icons. The one on the left is an arrow icon, the center is a circle with rays coming off it and the one on the right is a magnifying glass icon. The center icon- the circle with the rays is the Add Keyframe icon. Select it, and you can place key frames anywhere in the time line.

    Hi All :)

If you're using C8 or 8.5,.. you can use the "Puppetteer" panel,. in the "Controllers" tab.
if you create a "Pose Dot" on the grid,... then click it,.. to apply it to the figure,..
It'll create a key-frame for each body part, at that point in the time-line.

    Hope it helps :)

Thanks guys. I already new about the add keyframe icon. And the puppeteer thing only works with Poser/Daz figures. I am working on my own figure created and rigged in Carrara. Never mind. I think I will add a feature request to the bug tracker. (I could have sworn that this feature already exists though, must be thinking of another software).
    Thanks anyway.

Just tried that. It doesn't work for me, just adds a keyframe to the first item on the list and no others. Are you on a PC (i'm on a mac) and what version of Carrara are you using? I think a bug may have been introduced. Thanks.

    Hi Richard :)

And the puppeteer thing only works with Poser/Daz figures

I'm not sure where you heard that,. but it's wrong.

Q: Is your figure,. an "Animated Group" ?

If not,.. select your figure and bones and use the Animation menu to make them an animated group.

I so,. You can select the Animated group, and you'll see "Puppeteer" which can be use on any figure in carrara, including your own creations.

Creating a rigged figure which is part of an" Animated Group",. instantly gives you access to using the "Controller tab" (Puppeteer), and "NLA tab" to create and use NLA clips and poses.

You can use any feature of carrara to work with your own figures in carrara,.......not only Daz3D figures.

See pic ... quick test / example,..

    hope it helps
