@fishtales   Those godrays on those materials are a wonderful combination. Really shows off the contrast of the "raised" portions of the suit. The floor is really unique- nice job on that too. Well worth the render time!

@llynara  You know I HAVE to ask- did the skunk come back for their vittles tonight?

No answer on the skunk because I'm guessing after possibly having an unfortunate chance encounter, she is still frantically scrubbing with the mix of hydrogen perioxide, baking soda, and dishwashing detergent. (Yeah, I'm up coughing and hacking at 4am so was bored and decided to look up the "remove skunk smell from a person." See what you learn on this thread?)

The floor isn't 'made' and is just the default :) The background is an HDRI with a black background and five light areas from Dumor3D HDR Sets which was a DAZ Creative freebie. I turned down the Environment Map intensity to 0.5.

I rendered the scene again with just the HDRI, all other lights are off, and set it back to defaults.

Okay, been holding off on shopping but a lot of great things coming into the 2015/16 featured area, and the 2017 section too. Don't blame me if you don't get them  devil...

    Happy shopping!

@Novica I love your Art thread but my wallet does not. I thought I was done shopping for December (unless some new utility comes out before the month's end) until I read your post. So I deliberated and caved, blush evidently willpower is not my strength.

@klooless   Oh, Smokeyboy was mellow, wasn't he? Keeper Of The Box. You can buy beds, special pillows, special blankets...but give a cat a box and they're happy! So sorry for your loss but happy you got to share your home with Smokeyboy for however long you did.  He was gorgeous! Love the Maine Coon ear tufts, so exotic looking. Reminds me of lynxs.

More great pet pictures and stories!  Love seeing these.

So sorry for the loss of Smoeyboy, always so hard to lose our babies.

@Novica Smokey was usually a pretty mellow cat. He did tend to be a bit of a bully to the other cats until they put him in his place, then he was cool with them!  For a while we had a little cat (called her Minnie) and he bullied her all the time. One day the ex was sitting at the computer in the basement when Smokey came tearing down the stairs and hid.  The suddenly, Minnie and the other cat in the house were rushing down the stairs after him.  He never bothered Minnie again.  Smokey used to meet my daughter at the door every day when she came home from work and holler at us if the water in his bowl wasn't as fresh as he liked. He was a character!  We got him as a kitten and he lived for 14 years. I understand that is about average for Main Coons.

@IceDragonArt, thank you it was very hard losing him. It was very unexpected. My grandson was especially upset. He got Princess, the kitten and sat and cried on her for a while. She was very patient and let him hold her for the longest time. She was only about 8 weeks old at the time. Of course she is a typical kitten otherwise, into everything especially the toilet paper.  LOL

The cats were feral. Trapped them and bought them to get spayed. Seven years later I'm still alergic to cats but they think they own our back yard ... and they do gaurd the aviary with a close eye. Sometimes when it's cold we bring them in the garage or let them hang out in the dog parlor.

@nath   You're not late, we're doing this all this week. :)  I see your cats do what my cats do, only mine only do it on FRESH CLEAN laundry. No matter where I put it down (to go off and find hangers) whenever I come back, they're on it.

@artangel   Love the baby hummer! We keep our feeders out a long time (it's a myth that it causes hummers to hang around too long)  and I'm glad you bring the cats in when it gets cold/give them someplace indoors like the garage.  I had to laugh at your sign about Polly. (second image, wall)  Tuxedo cats are awesome!

Oh, and Maxx is awesome! One big cuddle dude.

Thank you. I feel like the big bad wolf ... and what a fine horse you have ... wipes drool from face. I Love your thread and found wavering into pets , for me, to be a mini-DAZ christmas vacation. Maxx passed away in 2014. We had him for 16 years (scientists expect a large dog to live 8-10 years so we were fortunate). It's amazing how dogs age depending on size. He was 120 in human years and according to the stats should have dies betwee 55-66, but had  he been a medium sized breed under 50 ilbs his age in 2014 would have been 87, and had he been a small breed under 20lbs he would have been to 80. Apparently smaller breeds live longer with a life expectancy of 12-14 years so were very fortunate. I heard horse can live double the lifespan of a dog. And parrots, I finally own one, thanks to 3D Universe, typically need to be willed to someone.

    heart these two posts.

If you folks will remind me, we'll do this again next year, starting on December 1st. We'll see how our pets are doing, and if we've added any new ones to the households. We'll call it the Annual Critter Celebration or some other title, and decide on that next year.

Still no luck finding Eevie, however, after a few nights of low 30's last week, it's been in the comfortable 50's through low 70's at night here, definitely unusual. The woman who saw Eevie at her back door (we think) is keeping my crate that Eevie loves under her (extremely nice) back porch deck (it's about 6 feet off the ground, as it leads to her above ground pool) so it's like a big covered back porch area itself. She puts food in the crate and says every night something is sleeping in there. I do think if it was Eevie, she'd be going back up to the patio sliding door and looking inside. But whatever it is, we're feeding it nightly and giving it a warm place to sleep. She covered the crate with a blanket so no wind, and lots of towels to curl up in.

Bill from one street over from her did turn on his night critter cam, but only the big black cat that this other woman trapped (and we released, he'd eaten LOL) came on the cam. I drove there last Friday night and it was funny. It was about 11:30ish I think, and shining my iphone light, all these pairs of glowing orbs from many yards were staring at me, but sure they were "hidden." One cat was up the tree, and it was actually a pretty sight to see the glowing set of eyes. I walked right past him (I didn't shine my light directly into anyone's eyes, so they never knew they'd been spotted, plus that's just mean. Reminds me of an eye doctor when they do that light in your eyes. UGH.)   Anyway, I had see a black cat run across the road into Bill's neighbor's yard, and yep, it was the big black fluffy male. So he eats at the woman's house AND Bill's. Smart cat! (No wonder he's big!)

There's a reason I'm sharing this, bear with me.

Barn news, Spoiler: sad, nothing to do with the horses though. One of the barn managers has family in Mexico. Saturday, a week ago, his two nephews were kidnapped, tortured for three days, and murdered. I was down at the barn brushing Stetson's hair out of his eyes (right before the barn party down at the owner's barn) and this poor man had just found out FIVE MINUTES before he left for the barn, to do the nightly check on the horses. I talked with him awhile, told the barn owner the news (he had asked me to) and I took a plate of food down to him about an hour later. The funeral was going to be before he could go, so there was that, too. At least he has the "barn family" which is a very good group of people, I know many texted him all this week to check on him.

Why I'm posting (well, my thread shares daily life news all the time, but I have a reason for this one.) The holidays are sad for many people, and if there's someone who had a bad experience last year, try to remember them THIS year, as many people forget.  Last year in 2016 we lost our Persian Charlotte in December, and Spinner (my father-in-laws cat I inherited) in January, but I'm okay with it because they were older and had quite a great life with us. (yeah, spoiled.)  But other people may have lost a special person in their life, and with holiday hub-bub and people living in different states, sometimes it may slip past us. So reach out with a long distance hug!  :)

And hugs to all the forum members who need it. We have many members who have gone through very serious surgeries and illnesses. I noticed Slosh just got out of the hospital, sending hugs down to another Floridian!  If you see a post where someone isn't doing great, or recovering, comment or pop them a PM and let them know you care. They can't "feel it" through their computer monitor!

Oh geez, more excitement. Remember my neighbor's dog was killed, by a dog named Vixen.  The black pitbull mix did NOT participate in the attack and easily could have snatched the two other tiny dogs. He was well behaved. Well, they took both dogs out of the neighborhood because we all complained and filled reports on that plus the fact the dogs were out three other times just that week. Today, they brought the pitbull back to the house, and had him on a flimsy lead line/chain staked into the ground, and it had poured rain so you know how effective that is.

I was on the phone with my neighbor, warning her not to let her dogs out in her front yard at all, when a family with 3 small kids came by. The pitbull was excited (he's just a big loverboy) but he jerked that stake right out of the ground and off he went after that family (dad, 3 kids.) I told Candy to call 911 and I got it on video (the dog was bounding, tail wagging, wanting to love on the kids)

Dad kicked him away, hard (don't blame him) before I even reached the next door neighbor's yard (filming as I started jogging) and the dog went home (and they IMMEDIATELY opened the front door. Let him in, looked at the dad, kids, my neighbor, closed the door.)

Cops came, I talked to them first, he told me the neighbor said it was "just a mixup, her son wasn't home and his friend "just let the dog out."  Ahem. She's in for a surprise because I had taped the dog  10 minutes before this even happened, he barked at me when I checked my mail, and he's clearly on a cheapie stakeout. So I'll be showing this to Animal Control so they know the facts (vs what they are being told) and also that the dog didn't mean any harm. I don't want him labeled as a vicious dog.

She will get a fine (as second vioation of leash law, first was attack day) heftier than the first one. GOOD. Don't bring these dogs back into our neighborhood without properly securing them.  The little boy was still crying when I went after them to get his contact information, so I of course I asked them if they liked horses. His face lit up, and the entire family is going out to give Stetson some carrots and go for a ride after the holidays. Great photo op!  :)

I've been dragging my feet about sharing photos of our furbabies. In the 17 years we've been married, my husband and I have had four dogs and 8 cats. Of that menagerie, we are down to 3 cats. Looking through all those photos is bittersweet. Three of the four dogs died of old old, one from an apparent birth defect. Three cats died from old age, practically in our arms, as we wouldn't let them make that final journey alone. Two cats died because they wouldn't stay out of the street. Those two were are first cats, rescued from the alley behind the MIL's place, (about two months after we got married,) and presumed to be litter mates. They died about two years apart. That leaves us with Munchkin, Newman, and Smidgeon, listed in the order they came to us.

Looking over the photos, I have laughed and I have cried. I wouldn't exactly call any of the dogs a rescue, but all the cats were, one way or another. Muchnkin, for example, showed up on our front doorstep, literally, and settled right in. We already had three cats at the time, but she let them know, succinctly, that "this is my house and my staff now!" She's been letting them know from time to time ever since.

I got both Newman and Smidgeon while doing a paper route in 2009. Newman was one of the strays plaguing a business customer. When I asked, they were more than happy to let me take him home, said he was too aggressive with the other cats. Once he got enough to eat, and didn't have to fight other cats for his food dish, his "aggression" disappeared. Though he does still like to "herd" the other cats. Smidgeon was a true rescue, having found her seizing in the middle of the road. I did a whole Squidoo lens on her way back when. Fortunately, I moved it to one of my own sites long before Squidoo disappeared, breaking it into two posts. Here are the links, if you'd like to read the whole story: Rescued: Smidgen’s Story and Life With Smidgen Today.

@ladair  I can really understand about the heavy heart when going through photos, you want to remember but it also makes you miss them so incredibly much. Thanks for making the decision to share.  I love the shot of the cat in the vegetation, just watching the world go by, I assume that is Smidgeon too?  I loved the comforter pics and the sprawled out computer pics!  Hovering over the images, I see the first cat is Newman on the cat tree- what an attitude!

Yes, Newman does have an attitude! But he is lovable. When it comes to Staff, he has the personality of a Ragdoll with an independent streak a mile wide! That's Munchkin in the Cosmos, and the other two are Smidgeon; the first was about a week after I found her and nursed her back to health, the other about a year and a half ago, in the master bathroom, making a bed out of our bath towels. She's quite the character. Follows me around most of the time, and can usually be found at my feet while I work at the computer.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! It's going on 4am so I'm going to get some sleep. It's 45 here at the moment, Real Feel 34 degrees. The dogs are outside romping before I put them to bed, so I can sleep in and not have to worry about getting up to put them out. They sure are frisky! I always marvel at how you can wake dogs up from a deep sleep and they get energized so fast. No caffeine required LOL.

Anyway, enjoy your day with your families, friends, loved ones. We're all congested and not going to see Mom today, or may go visit by going to her patio door. She'll get a laugh out of that.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone, having a very quiet one here. Mom is on oxygen off and on and getting an inhaler, this virus crud going around has shut down the entire specialized care unit over at the senior community. They are all taking their meals in their rooms so as not to spread it, and have asked everyone who is congested not to visit. Aka, quarantine.

They didn't have to ask me, I have more common sense than to get near anyone when I am congested, even if the doctor cleared me two days ago (after two days of antibiotics, supposedly not contagious to others, but I've never bought that reasoning.)  So Mom and I are playing cards via the telephone in about an hour (we just play guess if the card will be higher or lower, whoever ends up with the most correct wins. In person, we play more complicated games but can't do that on the phone.)  She is looking forward to it and laughed at our Christmas activity. We make the best of it!

Got the $30 off offer, ended up with Insurgent Geisha for $1.33, Viking Opera Singing Textures  for 78 cents,  TOA Ryder (Gen3F)  for $1.33,  Artemis Moon Outfit Textures for 78 cents. (That one has subtle fabrics, elegantly understated.) So all were 94% off and paid $4.22 total.  What did you folks pick up? (This is an orange banner. Different discounts for different people, as usual.)

I got https://www.daz3d.com/aldis-adigard-outfit-for-genesis-3-female-s and https://www.daz3d.com/strange-cave. The armour was in my wishlist, the other caught my eye going through the page.

The armour is a bit on the skimpwear-side, but it's good for kitbashing:-)

I got Abandoned District and Urban Street

It came to $24, but I couldn't find anything at all that I wanted for $6 or under cos I didn't want to spend any more money (especially if it was only going ot be 35c or something) so I just let it go and stayed with those two.

I was so impressed with that bike, I bought the Dolly Shoes the vendor recently released, just because he made them.

Thanks, L'Adair. Do you like the Dolly Shoes? I was tempted by them for exactly the same reason. Not that I need shoes, but simply because they were made by a PA that made a fantastic item that I had purchased. I'm really looking forward to whatever Eagle99 makes next. It is a treat to buy something that works so well and looks so great.

Nothing, yet. The coupon is good through the 31st, so I'm in no hurry. It's hard to decide when not a single item in the list is in my Wishlist! (Well, I already own 1358 (!!!) of the items…) but I'll report back here once I decide. Not going to let that nice coupon go to waste, that's for sure.

Merry Christmas, Novica. I hope your best gift this year is Eevie coming home to stay.
