Most enjoyable challenge and excellent entries all around.
Here’s mine: “Outward Bound”
The ship and station were cobbled together from Modo’s Space Ship construction set.
UV mapping and texturing are mine - mostly with images from CG Textures.com.
The planet is 2 Bryce spheres. one slightly larger. The inner sphere uses a JPL Venus map form the Solar Views site. The outer sphere uses a volumetric Bryce cloud texture.
The stars are a Bryce 2D face, mapped with a star image from Artmatic 7. Engine “flare” effect are volume visible / very short ranged elongated omni lights.
The scene is illuminated by the Bryce sun and a light blue sky IBL and the star map is lit by a parallel spot lights.
@ ede3D: the organic ship is a great idea
@ orbital: Mysterious and beautiful, like the cover of a novel. Great.
@ Dan Whiteside: Very nice scene with a very cool spaceship
