do i have this content creation process right?
hello, i recently began trying to make custom content, and i am making pretty good progress, i have a shoulder piece and some arm guards and such all sculpted in Blender. they fit well and all, and i feel rather nooby for saying this, but i really dont know where to start in UV mapping or giving it specular or bump maps. i mean, i dont exactly have the cash for right now for Z-Brush, and i was looking around and saw things like "realityPaint" and such, but i was wondering if anyone could step by step me here? maybe one of the wizards who seem to be making the amazing things i see on the daz shop? ...like, as an example, make an OBJ i made look as if its metal, and engraved? ------thank you.

You can UV map in Blender: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=obB9T3jXlak
And then use that UV template to texture in the GIMP. Both of these are free. Google will find you lots and lots of tutorials, many on YouTube.
The look of metal is best imitated with a combination of texturing and shaders in the render program (DS in this case). Look at products or freebies you already have that have metal bits for an idea how to create this impression.
