If you can get them into PP2014. From the tutorials, it looks like anything you can get there can be converted and rigged.

    So anything DSON then?

    So anything DSON then?

Since Poser 10/Pro 2014 will have Open SubD, you can import the Genesis item into Poser via the DSON (best method is to use P9/Pro 2012 and DSON) and save the figure the library. You can then render the figure without the need of the DSON and it's subD.

You can then open it up in Pro 2014 and use the new fitting tools to fit the items to the figure of your choice. These tools are only in Pro 2014 not in Poser 10.

    It's time!

    Order placed.

Now when will it arrive? Everything I've ordered this month has arrived early. Will Poser Pro 2014 continue the trend?

    Downloading Poser Pro 2014 now

Yeah - there is NO WAY I'm going to use the SM Store digital download. If your burned image fails. they will charge you a fee to download at a later date (6 months down the road.) . They call this download protection! I call it wallet rape. What a racket. You would think they would want you to visit thier site and maintain your account to provide sales content opportunities. I really NEVER get the urge to visit content paradise. The practice encourages you to maintain your downloads on a cloud driive - which you would think SM would _Not_ want you to do.!

No idea what you are talking about
If you don't want that download protection, deselect it and make a backup after download - just like you should do with any other software/content you purchase

Make two backups - or three. Media is comparatively cheap nowadays, and I always make a backup of anything I download if I can.

    Cheers,

I bought a physical copy of Poser 7, and discovered the disk had gone bad when I tried to reinstall. Fortunately I had made a back-up copy ...

I backup my custom(ized) runtimes, but I dont backup application software distributed by vendors. Most often by the time the disk is burned, a new update is available. Do you back up your DAZ Library to archive media? I dont - too big and I would just re download the latest version from my account if I lost it. Especially feasible with the new DIM. Don't understand why SM doesn't do the same with its Poser users. Nickle and diming customers to get a product they paid the license for just plain, sucks BIG TIME

I find Content Pardise's approach annoying as well. I back up my stuff after download but with Daz and other vendors (which I proboably shouldn't mention by name here) if I loose my backup I can re-download.

If you read the conditions on Content Paradise it says the extra payment keeps your files avaialable for 2 years. The only times I have lost stuff I bought from Daz it was more that 2 years old. So Daz's free re-downloads solved a problem that Content Paradise's paid for protection would not have solved.

Like another poster earlier in the thread, I just missed the purchase deadline by 10 days and had bought Poser 9. After email exchanges where I asked if I have missed the free upgrade, couldn't at least people (whatever status) who had purchased perhaps within the last 90 days get at least 1/2 price of their purchase price whatever it was even if discounted( eg mine was a student purchase)? Why would any customer who has purchased so recently want to pay the same again??? Talk about how to lose a customer!

So I won't be upgrading my Poser 9 to 10....on principle if nothing else. What a rip off for very recent purchasers!

Thanks for discussing it though...makes me feel better. OK, will slink off back to learning Cararra.

As far as I know the fitting room does not generate a DSON compatible conforming cloth.
If you use a genesis figure without DSON it should work

Hmm. I thought I could save the DSON converted figured to the library, then use that in the fitting room?

    Yes, you can
But you are trying to fit a poser conforming cloth to fit to a DSON figure. You can see in the dump that there is a reference to the DSON importer, so it looks like the DSON importer gets involved during the conforming process, gets an unexpected mesh type and crashes

If you disable DSON and load a library saved genesis figure and a fitting room generated cloth, it should work

Please post the crash details to the DAZ bug tracker.

Not recommended as you lose virtually all the capabilities of Genesis doing that.

Not sure about "virtually all the capabilities, since weightmapping, subd and fitting are supported in PP2014", but you do lose the ability to add morphs to figure or clothing - they need to be present in the figure or cloth before save. You would also need DSON itself to load the DUF provided poses and props.

I have used genesis without DSON for a while now, and it works fine without it - if you have transferred the morphs beforehand with DSON

Different, not as capable weight mapping capability so bending is not as good. No morph projection, no geografting, no adding morphs, no UV switching.... Everything that makes Genesis, Genesis.

I have had no bending problems - no more as with dson genesis in poser. The only time I used UV map switching was when the supplied uvmap was different, not because I wanted to. Geocrafting is done in DSON as a conformer last time I checked, can be done in Poser as well. Morph projection can easily be solved with the morph brush. Adding morphs is the one thing which might be missing, but I have not tried to do the Copy Morph and use a fully loaded genesis as source - that might work as well

But I was replying to someone who had a problem with the fitting roon, not a shootout about features

And I am telling you that your "solution" is not recommended, and that is the Official Word. You are the one that tried to claim it works the same, and your understanding of Genesis features is incorrect.

Morph projection, telling the clothing to adopt the morphs of the underlying figure even though the morphs don't exist in the clothing, is easily done with the morph brush? That one you are going to have to demonstrate.

Just check the videos on http://poser.smithmicro.com/poser10-poserpro2014/ at the bottom. The ones for morph brush and copy morphs. The copy gets the morphs into the clothing, the morph brush adjusts the poke through when posing

Again, I never said that it is the same. I just said you can use genesis without dson.

But this is turning into a feature war which I do not want - especially not in a DAZ forum with a DAZ employee.
If you want to discuss this privately sent me a PM and I am happy to discuss this with you

Again, to be simple and blunt. Your concept of how to use Genesis in Poser is NOT RECOMMENDED and NOT SUPPORTED.

I am sorry you have a problem with that, but it is that simple.

Yeah, apparently, they forgot that V4 originally was an unweightmapped figure. Most of us have gone ahead and weightmapped our legacy figures.

I don't understand why this problem only affects V4. How can a "bug" be figure specific?

V4 has magnets to assist with bending, if that's where the problem lies.
