Facial expressions for Genesis

Hi,

I'm looking for a way to create facial expressions for M5. I found several morphs for face shapes, which is not what I'm after. As good as these characters look, their expressions are pretty bland. Is there anything in Daz 3D that is similar to the Poser facial expressions? That would be perfect as I'd much prefer to use Genesis.
Much appreciated!

Select the head, expand the 'Pose Controls' and 'Head' in Parameters tab.

In a perfect world, that would work. The facial features can be enlarged or made smaller, spaced but not adjusted to form actual expressions.
The Pose Control only offers options for arms, legs and torso, so M5 can at least get a good workout - LOL!

It's been a while, but as I recall, Genesis may not come with any default expressions of its own. If that's the case, then at the very least, you're going to need to purchase Genesis Evolution Expressions. There are also a few sets of presets (Real Emotions Genesis, Expressive for Genesis, and a few others) as well as the Genesis Expressions sets by SimonWM. (The name includes the word "aniblocks", but they contain sliders for non-animated use as well, which is how I use them.)

Thank so much, vwrangler! These are awesome bundles - already watched a Youtube video on how it works.

Would you know if the Genesis Expressions and Aniblocks will work with the Old Man Rex character? As a cartoon for genesis I'm not clear on its limitations. Ultimately, I need to create a very expressive and grouchy old man for a children's book.
    Much appreciated.

The Genesis Starter Essential has pose control morphs for creating expressions. Did you select the Head, they won't show up with just the figure selected.

    Found it, jestmart!
That's too much fun! Will this also work with Old Man Rex?
    Thanks!

Glad you found. Don't have Rex but do have Jason And Jasmin toon characters, the individual facial controls work well for the most part. In theory the pre-builts like those vwrangler pointed to should work fine as they are just setting the individual dials but in practice to me they just look odd when applied to heavily stylized characters.

    Yes, that's a good point, J.
I'm looking for an old man character with a full beard (with moustache) and bushy eyebrows. I have the morphs to age genesis but facial hair is hard to find, especially the wild, ungroomed looking variety. Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

I have been considering getting one of the hair plug-ins. LaMH (Look at My Hair) player plug-in has been released for free along with a bunch of free presets for a number of figures to test with.

Looks like it's worth trying. But I think I'll wait for the LaMH to go on sale.
    Thanks for sharing.

I do have Genesis Evolution Expressions, along with several other sets- however when I select on Genesis>Pose>Head there are only dials for the tongue movements, no facial expressions. Nor do I see anything in the dials for the "basic" sets that are supposed to come with the model.

Everything else works fine, morph-wise- but the thousand mile stare is the only thing I can do with the male figure so far. No expression availability so far.

Select Genesis' Head, not the whole figure.

Yes as Richard notes you must select ONLY the head for the Expressions to list.

    Want to hear a joke?

    I don't see "Pose Controls".

Where exactly am I supposed to find it? I want to use Genesis and Genesis 2, but I can't give them any expressions...

Do you have the morph packs or just the free base figures? Some at least of the pose controls are in the morph packs.

Just the base figures. But there should be at least some basic expressions included... like Smile, close exes, open Mouth and such...
At least in the STarter-Tutorial the figure shows an expression...
