How to manage the lights only for the character
Hi guys,
I just seen the promo image for a new content and I'm wondering how can I manage the lights to illuminate only the character, please take a look to the picture below:
(full size here)
So, as you can see the orc is perfectly illuminated also in front, despite the enviroment should not allow it...
Just with the spotlights? If yes, how can I avoid that there are wrong shadows? I ask this because I don't know a way to reduce the "lenght" of the light.
Thanks.

Well, the upper body is much better lit than the legs or feet so part of it is that the light is focussed, and probably abgled soa s not to strike the visible areas of the back wall. It also looks as if the lights from behind are pretty strong, so there won't be much shadow showing even wheer it does hit the ground.
The two rim lights are casting shadows just on the walls off screen. a standard type of light setup. It is all position and angle.
This is for video, but the same concept applies for rendering:
This image was comped together in passes in photoshop. One for the character, one for the background. The lights for the character pass are a freebie set from second circle. Overhead butterfly light for the front, and a rim light on each side. The environment itself is illuminated by assigning emissives to the candles. Hope that helps.
Many thanks Josh :)
