How to pin chest in place? Translation pin doesn't seem to work

I want to pin the chest in place so I can fold the arms over each other. I put translation pins in various parts of the chest as shown in the 1st pic. However when I drag the wrist over it drags the entire figure.
Strangely the translation pin I put in the hip actually seems to work, unless that's already there by default. Why don't the chest translation pins keep the torso from moving when I drag a wrist around?

Did you Pin Translation and Rotation? It is working for me in DS4.6, I just tested it on Genesis
Had a better look at your screenshots, try Pinning Rotation too.
Doh! silly me ignore this post
1. The Hip needs pinned first or the figure will move.
2. Then pin the chest so that is stable.
3. USE the Active pose Tool and the TOOL from Windows>Panes (tabs) not IK pinning.
4. In the TOOL use pin at BOTH ends.
5. NEVER change from the Active Pose tool until you finish or the Pinning stops working.
6. Just move the TOOL menu out of your way and do not close it if possible.
This is just with the Chest pinned. I should have pinned from HIP to Chest to be 100% sure.
I tried it with pin rotation on the chest as well as translation and got the same thing. I also have enable pins turned on.
Dude I have just tested this and it doesn't need all that, unless I am missing something at 4 am. :) I just Pinned the chest and even with the translation tool selected I can grab a body part and move it and the chest stays put.
Not sure what's up with my settings, but if I pull down on the arm the pinned chest leans forward. Could be the way my DS is configured.
I verified that the hip is pinned. I noticed that in your image there are red pins on the areas that you've pinned. I can't get those to show up on my model, is there a way to switch that on?
I turned 'pin position' to 'pin at both' which was the only change I saw between your screenshot and my settings, however it didn't seem to have an effect.
"5. NEVER change from the Active Pose tool until you finish or the Pinning stops working.

I docked the 'Tool Settings' menu to the left so it's always visible and did not switch away from it, however the torso still rotates when I drag the wrist.
True Active Posing won't pin any body parts so it is in a fixed poistion and it will move beyond the pinning. But when selecting the Translation Tool (Gizmo) and pinning you can fix and body part so it doesn't move at all, ever. :)
Ah hah!! I was using the active pose tool which apparently ignores pins? When I switched to the translate tool the pins showed up in red and the chest stays where it should.
Thanks!
Active Pose Tool doens't ignore Pinning it just works differently as in a pinned body part will move when it gets to a point when it has to move. Try it on a foot and drag the hand upward and see what happens to the foot. It will stay put for a while then bend and then move off the ground the futher you move the hand upward.
I've tried various combinations all over the body and I can see how with the translation tool the pins keep it moving until it's forced to, but with the active pose tool I can't tell any difference between pinned and not. The pinned body parts start moving the moment the wrist starts moving, just as if they weren't pinned.
With the active pose tool it seems like it behaves as if the hips are always translation pinned anyway, so pinning the feet doesn't have much (any?) effect.
I'll just use the translation tool because I can actually understand what it's doing. Thanks very much for your help!
my pleasure.
Humm I will do some more testing later on this. Very wierd behaviour.
