Apply Active Viewport Transforms Vs Copy Select Item
If I already have a spotlight made, let's say S1 to keep it simple- and I am creating spotlight 2 (S2) I know if I have Spotlight 1 selected in Scene I get both these options -Apply Active Viewport Transforms and Copy Select Item, both for Spotlight 1. Does it make a difference? If I have S1 in the viewport, I would think either one would give me the same result when creating the second spotlight. They'd both come in where the first spotlight is.

One only put's the New one in the same place, the other is a 100% copy, color shadow type width ect..
Thanks Jaderail. And good morning!
Yeah, they would both come into the same place, but I think (and this is a bit of a guess, as I never have created another spotlight with the first one as viewport) anyhow.. I think that if you choose Apply Active Viewport for S2 it will simply be placed at the same place as S1.. however, if you choose Copy, S2 will also copy all the changes you might have done to S2 (intensity, color etc)
Hope this made any sort of sense

He is usually faster than most of us. And a blessing.
Only basic stuff, ask me how to rig and I'm in the dark too. Morphs those I can do. Rig, not a clue.
TY you Both I try to help if I can.
Then pop over and answer my tab question :) Nothing like taking you up on an offer to help! Love ya, you baldie! (For those of you who don't know, he's a proud member of the Bald Wizards Club. I am not insulting him!)
Also, the active viewport transforms would match the light only if you were looking through the light - it copies the current light/camera/view being used in the active viewport.
Oh great, smilies aren't working. Are you guys seeing that? There's suddenly blanks where they all were! (at 8:24am)
So even if you have it (let's say spotlight 1) selected in the Scene, the second one S2 wouldnt do the viewport transforms then? (Or would that option even show up in the dropdown when you're creating the next spotlight..... I don't remember. I've been doing it where I am in the light camera as you said.
BTW if anyone who hasn't done duplicate light locations or settings wants to see this in action, that's what I am doing the video on right now.
EDIT: And thanks for pointing that out so others will know Richard! (Smiley- since they aren't working at the moment)
Yep they broke for me too.
They couldn't compete with your avatar's Pepsodent smile!
Active Viewport Transforms should always be available, since there's always something looking at the view. Copy selected would be available only when the item selected was something it made sense to copy.
