Installing content from another site using DIM

Hello all,

Just a simple question (I hope!).

I have a character that I purchased at another store and it is for Poser and/or Daz3d.  It is in a .ZIP file on my harddrive.

I used the Daz3d install manager to install the DAZ3d program and other content from Daz3D and it worked very well.

Since I bought this other character at another store, the Install Manager has no idea it exists.

How do I make DIM aware of it to get it installed or is there another process to use?

Thanks,

Odie

Some products sold elsewhere for DAZ Studio may have been configured to use DIM, but I have no experience with them or how they work. DIM is primarily intended to facilitate downloading and installing content from the DAZ store. Most content available elsewhere is not accessible via DIM and must be "installed" manually (technically content is not installed in the same sense that programs are - it is simply a matter of uncompressing the .zip archive and copying the contents into your content library). A properly packaged product should already come with the correct folder structure and can be merged with existing folders. However, it is a good idea to extract the contents of the .zip to a temporary folder outside of your content library first so you can have a look at how it has been packaged. Most content prepared for DAZ Studio will have a top-level folder called "content", although anything is possible. That "content" folder is really only a placeholder - it is what is inside that folder that you want to put in your content library (they use the generic "content" folder, as does DAZ themselves, since many people use their own uniquely named content libraries so the creators have no way of knowing what that might be called). If the product you have is for both DAZ Studio and Poser, that "content" folder should contain a runtime folder and any one of a different number of DAZ-specific folders. Just grab everything and drag and drop them into whatever your content library is (use a right-click to do this and choose copy). It will prompt you asking if you want to merge folders - say yes and that should be all there is to it.
