Help to save render setting

Hi
(Sorry I think I answered my own question - see my EDIT - but left it here anyway)

I am finding "render settings" I save do not change anything when I reload.
By clicking the presets icon in the render room's "rendering" pane it brings up the wizard and loading these carrara presets work ok.
If I save" my ' setting using the "save "icon, to the same folder the file also appears in the preset wizard window but changes nothing when i load it.
so far have not found any clues in the manual or forum.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Using version 8.5.204 64bit

Edit
ps I was expecting "output" settings to be saved as well but apparently not

Further test revealed that "Render" settings are being changed but not "Output " ie I would like various settings of width, height, DPI and even specify current frame or movie and format to be saved. These are things I change frequently to see how things look at different resolutions.
Would be nice if Carrara provided some drop down presets of common resolution settings.

So now just inviting comments

hi for setting stuff carrara doesn't save like toon render settings (???? I think this was it) I have been doing screengrabs of the render settings so I can at least mimic them later
    if only by hand ;)

Needs to be a feature request for sure. I never realized it wasn't part of the render settings...

I griped some time way back about no way to save render settings except as a scene.

Actually, that is how I have dealt with it..., having several starter scenes that are empty with all my presets in place...

    Thanks for feedback.

I've felt for a long time there was a need to provide something better.

So what about if peoples specify their needs or idea of how the "saving" should be implemented ?

I'd like to see a drop down to insert preset resolutions - what sizes do you think thay should be ?

I'll then collate it into something to send Daz as a Feature Request.

honestly..., I'd rather they make it easy for us to add them ourselves.

Everything within the output window needs to be saveable: width, height, aspect

    Print: 200dpi
    2 x 3in (business card)
    4.15 x 6.25in (postcard)

    Photo 150dpi, 200dpi, 300dpi ?
    5 x 7in
    8 x 10in, 10 x 8
    11 x 14in, 14 x 11
    20 x 30in
    etc

    video
    640 x 480 VGA
    720 x 480 0.9 - 1.2 aspect (DVD-NTSC)
    720 x 486 0.9 -1.2 aspect (D1-NTSC)
    720 × 576 (DVD-PAL)
    1280 x 720 HD-720p
    1920 x 1080 HD-1080p

    digital cinema
    2048 × 1080 2K
    4096 × 2160 4K
    8192 × 4320 8K

    Monitor
    640 x 480 VGA
    1024 x 768 XGA
    1280 x 800 UXGA
    1920 x 1080
    1600 x 1200

Should the OUTPUT settings be " saveable" along with the RENDER settings or seperate. ?
