Simplistic Questions

Hello All!

I'm in the process of making a zip file archive of all my 3D assets. Are the files in public documents/daz3/downloads the actual zip files for the content that came with Daz Studio? There are zip files and Dsx files in this folder. I just want to make sure that all my content is safe and backed up. I figured the Dsx files weren't that important, but I could well be wrong, eh? If they are important, where should I place them?

I figure all Poser files go into the Poser Formats folder, but do they get dragged over and merged like other files?

The same goes for the Other Import Formats folder--is this where all the OBS's and such go?

Sorry for all the questions. Just trying to get this all off to a good start.

Those are the zips downloaded by Install Manager and used as the source for installing the content. They aren't needed for use once the content is installed (and indeed there's an option to automatically delete them after installing).

  • I follow what you are saying of course, but I would like to backup these files in case my computer craps out. I paid a lot for these assets and don't want to lose them. That's where I'm coming from on this.
  • The basis of how and where you save these files is much different than computer programs I've been used to in the past I( mainly Photoshop). So I'm learning my way. I've got a lot of poser native content that I want to use in Daz Studio, as well as obj files and so forth. That's why I'm guessing that the poser stuff goes into the poser format folder that you can see on Daz studios desktop, how to actually get them into that folder seems a little different however, because I don't see that file folder on my drive, only in the program, and I don't know if we can download them straight into an active instant of Dax Studio
  • Content that you bought on the Daz shop stays on your account and can be redownloaded at any time, but as what I do is a backup of everything I got installed on Daz, so in case of problems I just Ctrl+c, Ctrl+v the whole directory back, without having to redownload and reinstall everything.

The path (if you did the default installation) should be something like - C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library , but be aware that thing gets huge :)
