What makes up the essentials bundle? A matter of curiosity.

Hello,

I need to ask a strange question: is there a summary of what's included in different DS versions somewhere please? I found this thread (http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/7125/) when a guy asks for DS 2.3, but there's no description of what is included. I suppose there is a list of Genesis Essentials or however it was called previously. I tried to collect the most visible content from DS4.5 - just to see which files are (or were free when I got them) you don't need to consider buying. I ended up with this list:
wildmane hair - 17,99
alchemy chasm - 14,95
aikanaro - 12,95
millennium subdragon limited edition - 14,95
aiko 3 base (with naoko basic hair) - 19,95
aldora hair - 19,95
duke hair - 19,95
mech girl for aiko 3 - 9,95
mitsu hair for aiko 3 - 14,95
millennium cat limited edition - 9,95
millennium dog limited edition - 9,95
millennium horse limited edition - 6,95
emotiguy - 6,95
stinger airship - 16,95
fiery genesis tutorial - 6,95
autofit tool - 6,95
content creator toolkit - 6,95
texture atlas for daz studio - 6,95
animate monster pack sampler - 6,95
poser format exporter - 6,95
dystopia kruger - 14,95
fbx plugin - 6,95
millennium big cat limited edition - 6,95
sally mae hair - 14,95
magus textures - 12,95
magus - 19,95
journeyer scout textures - 12,95
journeyer scout - 19,95

I heard there was a different selection of content in earlier versions of the software. I'm curious what it exactly was. Can somebody help me out please? Some links to them would be nice too, I search the Web, but all I got was a bunch of suspicously-looking sites. Thanks in advance!

There have been various different models free over the years, and ALL of the DAZ 3D figures were free at one time for a period of about 10 months I think. V4 and M4 were free for much longer than that. I don't know how you would get the information you are looking for.

Someone heard you, well they didn't actually, but it came up in another thread and so they posted the contents here.

AS you can't get to that forum I will copy the post here

One thing to remember is that there is the Genesis Starter essentials that is a separate installer. That is where the genesis 1 figure is. I can't see why in DS 5.X they wouldn't design it to recognize this content. It's not part of the core software installer anymore, so as long as you have the installer I bet you will be fine.

Whether Genesis2 has a separate installer or the update the Genesis essentials to contain both is unknown and I don't think it matters for our purposes. Splitting them up would allow people to skip what they don't need though.

I'm sure the two figures will work fine in the same scene :)

With some updates we have had to download these essentials, in others it is not required. It is required when there are changes made within the contents. *Most of the times we have had to download the GSE packages is when there has been an update, of some kind, to the Genesis figure.

So, what I was saying in my earlier post is.... To use Genesis 1 and 2 within the same scene will depend upon if both Genesis 1 and 2 will be included/supported in the Genesis Essentials Bundle. So if Gen 1 is not included, we may have to run 2 different versions of DS - one for Genesis 1 and another for Genesis 2.

    I am just thinking....

Edit: Also because the meshes do have changes I wonder if there would have to be 2 versions of the autofit tool one for Genesis 1 and another for Genesis 2. That does not seem likely........

Wow... I wonder if they changed the manager shortly before my arrival then? :-P Just kidding, I too remember a few lucky months were freebies were real freebies. I guess they have some problems and need to save every dollar. Is it possible to find a list for DS3 and DS2? I thought DAZ Wiki could hold these, but there's nothing like this. Besides, FAQ sends me to incorrect links, but that's another story...
