Organizing content to suit my needs

Currently I am accessing content 3 ways. Using the Smart Content, using the alphebetical folders Daz created and using "my Library" where I installed (unzipped) all my Renderosity stuff. Smart content is easy to use quickly if the items even show up there, or if the material/pose is "compatible" with the selected character but other than that I am MOSTLY using the alphabetical file pathways daz uses to locate content. When I click on the letter it lists the product and when I click on the product it lists everything in the right pane that came with the product-which I like. Example: A->Anna-> everything that came with Anna. The "My Library" however has installed content from Renderosity to  a bunch of sub-catagories and to access any given product it might be something like My Library->Characters-> Genesis 8-> Clothing-> "name of product"->iray etc. This can cause a massive amount of clutter and confusion when building large scenes and having to go back and access different things.

I would like to consolidate all of my products, daz and rederosity, and put them in catagory headers instead of alphabetical IE "People, clothing" etc and when I click them, if brings up each product in that cataory and when I click on a product, it brings up ALL items that came with that product without any additional subfolders.

How might I go about this? Can I just create my own folder library in windows and dump all the daz/renderosity files in the folders of my chosing? Where are my daz installed files located?

Thanks

You can create your own custom categories in which you can organize your stuff the way you want without changing the original file structure.  I have created a simple tutorial for doing this - please see the link in my signature under "Tutorials: Dracorn's Tips n Stuff (1) Categorizing"
