Famous free scan of a head was a real challenge to me. The problem I was tweaking for long was glossiness map that has given a lot of strange effects together with glossy transmission material settings. Additional; back lightning was set up essentially to light through an ear. I took a lot of trial renderings to find how to correct the glossines map a bit and I am not happy with it still. Maybe next time.
The shader on the cube is a LUX Materials Mix shader comprising of a GlossyCoating over a Lux NULL Material mixed with a plane Matte, all controlled by a greyscale texture map.
When using LUX Materials Mix, make sure that you are mising two different types; I found mixing between two Mattes produced a dull grey image...
