Daz Studio Custom Content

in New Users
Hello, I'm new to Daz and was wondering why none of the freebies I download from third-party content providers works for me properly, I tried to insert a hair for my character and it all works, however, if I try and add a material it doesn't work.
I first tried Black.pz2 which simply load in Daz Studio but changes absolutely nothing, and secondly, I tried black.rsr but this time it gave me an error "No importer for the file format can be found."
Can I get any help and is there a way to fix this?
Ps: I tried moving all the files to My Daz 3D Library but when I open it on Daz nothing shows, only empty folders.
Thanks!

These are actually Poser file types. There is a Runtime folder with a LIbrary hierarchy. I'll ask one of the mods or community volunteers who has worked with Poser content in Studio to come in and look to give more specific help.
This is rather interesting because every time I try downloading something it never works so I'm assuming its Poser file types as well, even though I clearly only asked for Daz Studio content.
Older Studio products contained these type of Poser files. You should be able to use them in Studio, but they have to be put in a particular way. As I recall, the .rsr files need to be converted, but I may be incorrect which is why I want someone with more familiarity to look at this for you. :)
Oh I get it now, thank you. :)
OK, catshoodan, the first step is to please tell us which hair that is so we can determine what the problem is and how it might be solved. As Chris has said, DAZ Studio is perfectly capable of using almost all but some of the newest Poser format content - I can confirm because I have a ton of it and use it all the time. Since DAZ Studio has traditionally supported Poser format content then "only asking for DAZ Studio content" can easily include Poser content.
P.S. the .rsr files are old Poser format thumbnails - they won't do anything in DAZ Studio.
It is the .pz2 files that we are interested in. Do you have the hair selected in the viewport when you click on the black.pz2 file? Once again, if that does not work, you must tell us which hair it is in order for us to help.
Update: OK, I believe I know which hair that is. It is Kyoko hair by Kozaburo, right? If so, that is an extremely old hair originally designed for Victoria 1 and updated to include Victoria 3. Koz's hairs actually still stand up very well today for the most part, which is a tribute to how advanced they were back then. However, they do require some fitting to work on newer models - pretty easy to do., really. Now for you being unable to use them, there are several files for Kyoko Hair that you might have downloaded. The one that you want is KyokoHairMK3.zip. The others may work, but the one I mentioned has some advantages. For one, it contains .cr2 files that will load both the hair and its texture at the same time. DAZ Studio will tell you that it cannot find the textures and you must tell it where they are (runtime/textures/kozaburo). This is presumably because the path is absolute rather than relative in the .cr2 file - you could edit it to avoid having to point DAZ Studio to the location each time you use the hair, but that's another topic. BTW, almost all the old Koz hairs have this issue - at the time they were created almost everyone had simpler content libraries and locations.
How did you load the hair as shown in your screenshot?
Hey there, I'm sorry for the inconvenience but after days of the hair not working I finally found a way of making it work by playing around with the files are trying different combinations, thanks for the help!
No sweat, catshoodan. Glad you worked it out. Sometimes it takes a little effort and tweaking to get some of the older content to work correctly, but it is often worth it.
