@Shinji Ikari 9th:  I agree with seegsons.  He needs some light to help bring him out from the background but it is definitely a good start.  Hopefully you will have some time to work on this.

@sueya:  Slight changes to the pose can make such a difference.

My current iteration, and unless I can manage to improve it, may be my last entry:

And an interesting variant I created (NAE):

The variant looks almost like it came out of a comic. How'd you do that?

Added some flames to my second idea. Not only do they cast some light on my character from infront, but they also give him a reason to be jumping around the stairs like he is.

    That made a big difference.

    Welcome marcy.

This is a really good start.  I like the lighting.

Is she carrying the knife or is it attached to her outfit?  If she is carrying the knife her fingers need to be holding the knife.  Posing fingers can be tedious but can be worth the effort.

    This is a great start.

She is holding hand on her knife... like in seconds she will take it.. I think I had most problem with her face than fingers.

I thought that might be the case.  Faces can be tricky too, getting expressions to look natural.

I know... expressions are most hard part of work. Immo it could be good topic for other contest *just a suggestion *

I used a tool in post work from Topaz Labs. I should've saved those settings but don't think I did.... Anyway, they make things for various post work/image editing applications. I like to try random settings, a lot of the results come out garbage, but some, like that one, are a bit more to my liking. I don't know if they still make plug-ins, they used to--and that's what I used in Paint Shop Pro. Now it appears they are doing their own software, but I like some of their stuff better than others. Since the scene was inspired by Frazetta's work, I wanted to show it in a more comic/illustrated magazine format. Thank you guys for the interest and nice comments.

Shinji - I think it looks much better like this. Nicely done.

@marcy - Welcome to the challenge. I think the image is a really good start. I'm trying to be more sensitive to the wants and needs of others, especially newer people I haven't got used to yet--is there anything in particular you'd like feedback on? I think the others have already given some good input.

@Wanderer  - just general feedback... I already see some mistakes I did on that picture while rendering it, but so far I think it's one of my favorite ;)

without being rude, it's critique - I can't see that you have put in a lot of effort !

what I see is a figure loaded into DAZ with a point light and a boring background

come on, show us what Elfes and Fairies are made of

After a lot of arguing with dForce and almost giving up on the entire picture I eventually managed to get beyond it.

Made a couple of changes to my first idea last night. Adjusted the position of the gunk so SL4Y3RW0LF didn't have his foot in the stuff, and gave said shadowrunner some scars.

@marcy - I cannot say how much work you've put into it, but I know that it takes a lot more effort to bring forth work if you're altogether new to 3D art and/or art in general when you come to Daz Studio as a new user. Simple scenes can create very powerful art. Having said that, we all could stand a little prodding to be better now and then. Hang in there.

@Noswen - I think you've done a great job of it. Nice image.

Shinji Ikari 9th - I think your improvements to this image are good. Well done.

Tangled Up With Ink - I have to admit, the dragon is much more fierce now and the shot is far more interesting.

Okay, I played a lot with many different variants before deciding to submit this as my final version. For better or worse:

    It's Not Over (Final Entry)

Daz Studio with post work in Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro:

And, below that, an interesting variant (NAE) achieved in Paint Shop Pro using the above image as source and applying various effects in Topaz Labs plugin:

I did also want to share the guides I used to help me with composition ultimately--I overlaid 2 sets of guides (spirals and triangles I believe it was) to help me arrange a sort of ordered chaos. What I like most about the upper left corner and the spiral is the implied motion of her upper body in the next moments as she prepares to kick the creepy zombie child in the face, before leaning back to launch herself toward the window. Maybe that only makes sense to me, but that's what I see in the moments ahead of Lorien.

Very nice entries this month, especially from the people who fresh joined in.
To all of them, don't get frustrated, when you get critism or read a lot of things, what you could or should do better in your pics.
I self was going through this process and I know how frustrating it can be to read all this things. It's easy to say make this or that different, but we all must first learn HOW things works in DAZ.
So don't give up and going on with this. You all will see, how longer you work with DAZ the better are the results.

I still have a lack of inspiration, but maybe next month I will join in again, so good luck to your entries.

Hello. I tweaked the image some based on the feedback. Not sure if I'll get to another image this month.

It looks good @illysArt.  I know how hard it is to adjust a pose without causing everything else to get out of whack.  You did a great job.

Thanks @Kismet2012. The hand bend was easy, everything else about it (angle tilt, shoulder) that was interesting. I had to get out of my own mind's eye too. It was't what I envisioned so I wasn't sure if it looked it. I appreciate the support. :)
