Weird tethers showing up in preview.

I've noticed that my Zombie Throne has a peculiarity to it. When you move it around in a scene it remains tethered to the centre of the scene. It's like a couple of polygons are stuck there. But when you render the scene the tethers don't show up and everything is normal. I've seen a few other props do this too. Why is that? Is it anything I should be worried about? Since it renders fine it's not that big a deal, but I'm not a big fan of things that are as they shouldn't be.

Is there SubD applied? if so it may indicate a problem with the winding order on the affected polygons - try switching to the Legacy SubD and see if it goes away.
It seems to have disappeared once I loaded another object into the scene. Curiouser and curiouser.
Oh the ghost in the machne again...weird happenings indeed.
