Thank you :)    Um, what I did was basically load up LIghting Capsule, and kept clicking and testing. I didn't use any of the tint to get different hues on her, because I wanted to show her out of the box.  I  didn't do anything to the skin, she has really, really nice materials. I turned down the Burn Highlights (.15) and raised Crush Blacks (.40) in Tone Mapping, but other than that, it's just kudos to the vendor :)

Thanks for the details, Novica. For some reason your @ didn't at me, and I received no notification. I have the Lighting Capsule thanks to you and sales support, and I'm going to see if I can get some beautiful results too.

So how about an extensive peek (and easy to click between) array of renders for the Erika HD and Brickhouse Beauty Morphs (Gen8F)   Open each one (they'll be in a separate window) and then just click through to see the changes. First up are the Mouths, 1-5. These do NOT have the Erika texture.

This is a nice product which gives you five different mouths, five lips, five noses, then mixes all the number 1's together (the number one mouth, nose, mouth) then the number 2's, then 3's,  then 4's, then 5's. Then she gives you different mixtures. There are textures included, but these are just showing the morphs at the moment.

    Mouths 1-5

Lips, 1-5.  Sorry the last one changed size (and the rest will be that size. Somehow the viewport got moved, and I didn't touch anything unless I hit it by accident.)

The noses add a nice variety, you can mix the eyes, noses, and mouths for any number of combinations. I'll be showing you some presets with all the 01's (number one mouth, number one eyes, number one nose) that are done for you, and then there's random mixtures presets too. You get your money's worth in playtime!  First, here's the noses. Open all in a separate window (just click them) and then click back and forth to see the differences.

Edit: Please note noses 2 and 3 are the same.

These are the "All 01" and "All 02" etcs. The nose on the All 02 and All 03 does not change, so it is the same nose.

    All 01, All 02, All 03

    All 04, All 05

Here's the Erika texture with high bump, medium translucency.  There are no brow options, other skin options, eye colors, etc, just like your typical character.

Because the eyes are all the same shape, at first glance, it is hard to see the differences between the various faces using the different morphs.  But when you stare at the renders longer, suddenly there is a world of difference between some of them.  Interesting.

  • NovicaNovica Posts: 23,887

I'm back online, will finish adding the face mixtures, etc back into those posts. :)  The entire thing will take awhile as I am adjusting the lighting/contrast/midtones on all (they are all the same.) Doing it batch by batch.

These are pretty subtle changes on some of those, definitely agree. You'll see a bigger difference in the noses I think. I haven't clicked back and forth on them to check. Opening them all in different windows and clicking back and forth is really the fastest way to compare these.

Aurore (Gen3/8F)     Harmonious DIscord Outfit (Gen8F)    Rachel Hair (Gen3/8F)

Leviathan's dresses are really nice. The Rachel Hair is a good formal, classy hairdo, in addition to an everyday sophisticated look. The hair is shown out of the box, without any tweaking.

Aurore (Gen3/8F)       Helena Hair (Gen3/8F)    dForce Gossamer Grace Dress (Gen8F)

Another Leviathan dress.  I darkened the color of the dress (all of it except the see-through chest part) so the red would be darker and match that see-through. Helena Hair is a must have for elegant hairstyles. All that stuff in the hair can be separately hidden, and there are multiple color options for the accessories.

Used the same pose, same expression, just having fun seeing how different she looks when the hair and outfit go from casual to chic. Wow, she looks like royalty.

The details on this dress are amazing. You can click to enlarge, it's 1000 px.

This dress dForces with just one click from the Simulation pane. No tweaking needed.

Thanks for reviewing Erika and her Brickhouse Beauty morphs.

I know that some of the morphs are SUBTLE.... that is one thing that I will change when I do another Brickhouse Beauty Morph set. Make the addon morphs BIGGER and more obvious. I'm sorry to hear that noses 2 and 3 are the same.... somehow that slipped through. I tested tested tested to try and make sure everythign was unique and a pleb slipped through. sorrry!!!!!

I hope you enjoy her regardless!!

Personally, I like the subtle morphs, so no need to apologize (at least to me lol)  And well, stuff happens.  I've never once been disappointed with your stuff!

There's some subtle in the group, and some which are more noticeable. That product really goes out of the way to provide presets, brow options, eye and makeup etc  options, so the two noses accidentallyu being the same wasn't a big deal. It's just as always, when I am showcasing a product, I assume it's ME first, doing something wrong. With all those renders (and doing other things on the computer) the first thing I think is perhaps I repeated something. :)   I'm glad I bought it, I particularly like the noses!

  • I had an idea this morning, and I hope you don't mind if I post a comment about it here Novica!  If so, please message me and I'll remove the post.

I do like a challenge, so I thought I'd toss out a note asking people what sort of guy people might want to challenge me with in creating (not a copy of any person, but based off of).  Post a pic or name or link in my art thread!  We'll see what happens. XD

Note: I love Lyo's products-subtly is sometimes the best thing in character creation. It's what gives the individuality of a look, or personality of a character you create.  That's my favorite part- creating the moprhs. It's so much fun to work those polys.

Hey DM- it's fine! Sounds like a great idea :)
I'm not going to be online today until later this afternoon, so I'm not ignorning anyone who posts here about other things. Take DM up on his offer, sounds like fun. Ya'll just carry on :)

This one isn't subtle but my vote is for Jason Mamoa....

Just successfully completed an upgrade to my computer. For some time my boot and data hard drives have been near capacity, mostly from 3D content. I've had to shuttle things off to other storage disks plus it was affecting the overall performance of the PC during rendering. So I replaced the boot 128gb SSD (which was the affordable option when I built the computer) with a new 500gb SSD and replaced a 2TB data disk with a 4TB. Based on the recommendation of Microcenter, I got an EZ-Dock 3 to transfer the data. You insert the new disk in the dock, hook it up to a USB port, format the new disk, then run Samsung transfer software which cloned the hard drive. This means there was no need to reinstall the operating system or data. After inserting and verifying the computer booted with the new drive, I moved onto the data drive. Since the new data drive was over 2TB, you need to use a different type of partition table (GPT) which makes it a bit more complicated. After formatting the new drive using the USB-connected dock (which took 12 hours), I then removed the original drive from the computer, put both the new and old drives in the EZ-dock, and pushed a clone button on the dock. Four hours later, all the data had been transferred. Unfortunately because it was a clone, the computer was only seeing a 2TB partition so I had take additional steps to expand the partition, and then after swapping the two disks, rename it to the original drive letter. While I was at it, I upgraded from 16 to 32GB RAM. Whew! Glad that's over. Now I can download recent purchases and Daz Studio is much more responsive.

  • @RGCincy, thumbs up on your upgrade. I used almost the exact same process (different software to handle partitions) using a docking station. I always hesitate recomending it when I see questions on moving drives and upgrading drives for fear of getting flamed. I could not recomend a better means of getting your starage drives upgraded. Hardware does all the work. no need ot go through all your previous settings, everything is exactly as you had it but more storage.

I was a little hesitant in case something went wrong but all in all it was pretty smooth. Helped to have Google available for quick answers.

Does anyone have Canyon Terrain? I'm curious about using iray shaders on it...whether the shader/material zones will allow you to do that, or not.

Yes, I have it. The terrain surface is all one  with a complex mask/texture/normal /bump structure. When converted to Iray uber base, it all becomes one large surface. I don't know if there's a way to convert it easily while preserving the mask, bump, and normal masks..

Aryn (Gen8F)     dForce Sophisticated Elegance (Gen8F)    Sonia Hair (Gen3/8F)

I was checking out the necklace on the Sophisticated Elegance outfit. It has nice options to change the metal (I went with Emerald) and a few other changes. The Sonia Hair is another one of those hairstyles which can be used for elegance or casual. I like the somewhat tousled look.  Just ignore the zombie stare, I wasn't posing her per se, just wanted to see the clothing. I also tested sharpening the results in postwork, rather like the crisper details of the skin on this one. Works well with the lighting.

I used the default setting for the Simulation, and after 30 minutes, stopped it. It either wasn't done, or exploded. So I did something wrong, or this dress takes forever. Anyone simulated it yet, and if so, did you change the settings from the Simulation pane?  (Keep in mind I still haven't explored dForce yet, other than just using it out of the box. That's on me, not the vendors.)

I don't have that dress, but I gotta say, the Granny Nightgown takes forever to sim as well. It's the poly count. Look at the dress in Wire Shaded draw mode and I'm betting you're going to see a lot of polys.

With dForce, more isn't always better. But it's a learning process for all of us. There is a sweet spot, we just have to find it. lol. If you have decimator, you could try applying it to the dress in a test scene and see if that helps. (Make sure Self Collide is off for the material zones, too. I get tripped up with that one a lot. It's on by default…!)

Anyone got the new Linday horse "character"? Any thoughts from the horse experts?

  • NovicaNovica Posts: 23,887
    edited November 2018

@melanieL  It looks like this horse.    It's a French term translating into "Other Than Thoroughbred" and  this does look like a AQPS horse. I personally find the long, gangly neck and oversized head unattractive, but then again, I own a Morgan. They're solid, muscular necks and proportionate head and body have me spoiled. It boils down to what you're used to, and what appeals to you.  I don't even like the Daz Horse, never have- the neck is too chunky, and the same applies to the "other" horse. The heads look like they are merely stuck on the bodies. It does appear the vendor was spot-on if this is an AQPS horse, but they are ugly as sin IMO. The withers are just way different from a Morgan (but I've owned Thoroughbreds, Quarters, Arabians, Paso FInos, etc.)

Edit- from wikipedia- AQPS, translated as "Other than Thoroughbred", is a general term used in France to refer to horses not listed as Thoroughbreds. Anglo-Arabians, Selle Français, and French Trotters plus all other crossbreds can be qualified as AQPS.

And of course, I have a roly poly fatboy who hasn't been ridden all summer, since last March actually, so he is about 150 pounds overweight at the moment. But you can see the neck, head, and body are solid and proportional compared to the oversized head and long, long neck of the AQPS.  The horse does offer you a variety, compared to the other two horses on the market. I haven't looked to see what tweaks you can do with it.

Anyone else with horse pics, feel free to share. Love to see them!  This is my filthy boy (fresh from a dirt bath, a rolling good time) who is on a diet.
