not a project I really have tried... doing food...
but I shall try
yummo
I was going to say that I had never tried to do food either, but then I remembered that I kind of have...
Candy corn...
Beer...
Apples...
Potato Tomato...
These are all old images, so not entries, just saying that I've done more food related renders than I thought I had.
I've got one I've been meaning to do for a while and I guess this thread might be just the poke I needed to actually do it. Will have to wait for the weekend though.
Really nice look. My only quibble is the cherry. I think you need either translucency or sub surface scattering.
Thank you. Indeed, I applied SSS and some transparency... Maybe the light is too intense. It looks more like a tomato cherry.
Along with the small amount transparency try translucency. Also, if you are using transparency, try adding a small amount of refraction and Freznel to the transparency.

The ice cream and the chocolate syrup were made with FLUIDOS; the cherry, with metaballs.
FLUIDOS can be used as a modeler !
Metaballs!
Wonderful ice cream and syrup. Now that I see it, it makes perfect sense to use Fluidos as a modeler. Thanks again for this resource.
+1 Alberto, you the man!
muy delicioso

Great image seline.
try taking that ice cream into the vertex modeler, crank up you're models smoothing to 3 or 4 (depending on the current res), or higher.
then enable displacement painting, .. lower the brush strength to really low,. 3/5, choose a brush texture, and paint in some detail,.
you can scope out from your model ,. to get a bigger brush,. bigger effect,. with a single click
or get close and small for fine detail with a more painterly approach.
you can also create your own custom brushes.
my ice cream ball is a very low poly mesh with lot's of smoothing and displacement,. covered with a surface replicator, of sprinkles
edited to add pics
