getting shadow to show for characters

HI, I haven't use Daz 3D in awhile.  Now that I am ready, I'm having problems with my characters not casting shadows.  I have cast shadow set to on in the parameters panel.  Seems like something pretty simple, yet I can figure it out.  will somebody please help me

Are you using Iray render engine, or 3Delight render engine?

  • My profie picture is how things used to work.  Shadows galore.  i'm using 3delight.  But the shadows aren't even showing when I bring my character out to a scene.  I don't understand.  And that Iray...  I don't even understand that at all.

The Ds standard lights have shadows off by default. Select the light, go to parameters pane and find shadow type, set it to raytraced.

Question: Have you newly installed DAz Studio, the Version is higher but 4.8? Because if yes, then the default render engine is new set to Iray. You would have to switch it to 3Delight in the render settings. After that, the lights are behaving as Sven Dullah said.
