Update to version 4.6/ Cannot start up scene/All Genesis files are missing...

Hi, I need help. I have installed Daz 4.6 (64 bit version) and when it starts up I get this error message…..

“Could not open start up scene : (c:/users/username/Documents.DAZ 3D/Studio?My Library/People/Genesis/Genesis.dsf. File does not exist.”

This message is quite correct because Genesis.dsf is not on my computer. Not only that but it seems all my genesis files are lost from my previous version. Do I have to buy a new Genesis pack or something?

I still have all my other content but the only thing thats really missing is the "smart content page" with all my genesis stuff!

Any help will do!
Thanks
WOK

In DS4.6, the startup Scene is in DUF format (not DSF), so you need to change that. Did you install Genesis Starter Essentials along with DS4.6? If not, you will need to do that.

Yes I've read about the DUF and DSF formats. Can you a provide a link to the Genesis Starter Essential page?

There should be a download link in your My Account area, under Product Library.

I also have this issue I have been trying so can someone tell me clearly in daz 4.6 the genesis models are supposed to be duf files not dsf files? I have tried many times to get duf files in the correct location. when I look at the list of files installed by the genesis essential installer the files are almost all dsf files. so is that correct or could this be an installer from 4.5? I get so frustrated with this every single time there is an upgrade. I have spent 2 days so far reinstalling, reimporting metadata. etc. I can now see the thumbnails but when I click on genesis it says its missing a dsf file (??? supposed to be looking for a duf file according to most of those in the know) anyway I have both a genesis.dsf and a genesis.duf in the folder that it is looking at and it still cant see it and therefor loads with rounded boxes for a figure instaid of genesis. If I just trash all my files (again) and redownload I wonder if their is any chance it will work?@#$%

sorry for my gnashing of teeth, I'm feeling cranky today!:-S

The .dsf files are the hidden files in the Data folder. The files you see inside DS are .duf (although older products that have .dsf for both will be displayed).

An reading all this is very frustrating. I myself continue to have this problem. Even tho I have deleted all the files, and reinstall each one. Still have that same message popping up along with the crash report. :/

When you get the crash message, can you click More, save the crash report, then submit a support ticket to Technical Support with the crash report attached?

I've already done that, but they seem to run me around in a circle of re-download, Install and see what happens. This Daz Studio is the one thing that is a whole lot different then the others. 4.0 Works Excellent. Then when you upgrade to a newer version it seems to give a person a lot of problems -.-
