Content Library forgets categorization of new files

Got a problem that keeps cropping up. When I save a new file in DazStudio, the next time I start up, it's usually not where I categorized it. Instead it's among the uncategorized files; sometimes I have to initate a file search even if it was found before. Usually when I recategorize it this time it'll stay put. However, searching for it seems to cause it to lose the little "Set", "Scene", etc., tag.

It happens whether I save from the file menu or through the "+" icon in a category. It doesn't happen 100% of the time, but it happens often enough to be a major irritant, and I can't figure out any rhyme or reason to why it doesn't always happen. This go around, I had saved several scene subsets, and some lost their categorization, and some didn't -- and the ones that didn't were in the middle of the batch.

Any pointers on how to fix or prevent this would be greatly appreciated.

Are you using the CMS? Categories rely on it.

Yes. It's up and running constantly (at least, as far as I know; I suppose it could be turning on and off on its own in the background, but this would seem unlikely.)

Is your DS properly closing each time? I've had issues where after categorizing, if DS crashes before I've saved my CMS userdata, the new categorization won't be there.

It's getting shut down properly, so that's not it. It's part of why this has me so perplexed; there's nothing obvious that's going wrong in the process.

What do you mean when you say "before I’ve saved my CMS userdata"? Are you doing something manually with CMS other than the in-Studio categorization? If I'm missing some obvious step somewhere, I suppose that could be it, but I can't see what I'm overlooking.

When you say "where you categorized it", did you actually categorize the item after saving it? Just saving the item does not categorize it.

Yes. I have tried it two different ways. I have tried saving it through the file menu, and then categorizing it. I have also tried saving through the "+" icon within a category, which automatically places it within that category. In both cases, it sometimes loses the categorization upon the next start.

Is it only scenes you create, or are new products you install not keeping categorization?

Both. If I install a new product, and scan for the item (I don't use the install manager), and categorize it from the resulting scan it loses categorization most of the time.

That sounds like a database corruption issue. What I would suggest is:
    1) Export User Data
    2) Exit DS, stop the CMS, and delete the database index (ContentDB.ind)
    3) Restart CMS, start DS, give it a minute to rebuild the index, and see if you still have the problem
    4) If that doesn't solve it, exit DS, stop the CMS, and delete all the database files
    5) Restart CMS, start DS, and Re-Import Metadata (which will also import your User Data)

Sounds plausible. I'll give all that a try, and see what happens. I'll report back if it doesn't work. If it does, it might take a bit for me to be certain, so thank you in advance.

I've had your exact issue before and this was my fix as well.
