Is there a faster way to move an object and how do you paint it?

New question.  Whenever I import an obj. into DAZ it's waaayy too big and a mile away from the grid.  Is there a way I can center it onto the grid without moving it yard by yard by hand?  Shrinking it is no problem, I can use the scale option.  It's just having to move it bit by bit until I finally get it onto the grid.
Also, I can't seem to get DAZ paint the object using the Shaders.  I was able to do it before but no, nothing.  What's the procedure just in case I forgot something?

Zero it out in your modeler BEFORE you export it and DS allows you to set the import scale. It even tells how the numbers relate.

Did you UV map it in your modelling software before you exported it as .obj?

Also, have you selected the surface in the surface tab before applying the shader?

  • Finally figured out what I was forgetting when painting.  I forgot to click the icon for clicking onto the surface.

As for what Ascania said, I have no idea.  But, I did figure out a faster way of moving the object.  Keep it too large, move it centered over the grid, then shrink it.  Easy-peasy.

Thanks again for the help, gang.

Fastest way to move the object is to go to translate, and change x,y,z to 0,0,0 or if you have another object just look at its location and then adjust the location of your new object to match it, another way  is to use the mouse and universal tool, you can grab it and move along any axis or no axis.  There are scripts made by someone named Mcasual (really good stuff) and he has a script I believe called "cometh here" it will drag the item straight to your viewport location.  Google Mcasual scripts for daz 3d and you will find them, he has many tools you will be there for hours looking at the scripts he has made for daz 3d.
