How to make shader in Iray look brighter?

in New Users
I apply wallpaper shader to the wall and it looks really dark for some reason. Is there a way to make it brighter? Changing Base Color doesn't do anything, changing Glossy Color actually does but the default one is already white, so not sure how to make it brighter than white, only option there to make it look even darker.
Attachments 1 - how the shader is presented and, I guess, supposed to look, 2 - actual look compared to the default(a lot brighter) texture of the wall nearby.

Hi, you can go to the surfaces tab, select your object "wall" then in surfaces make sure you select the surfaces you want to modify.
1. adjust the base color, brighter to white increases the overall tone, dark is just the opposite. You can also throw color in, by moving the color graph to the colored areas.
You can reduce translucency weight to make stuff brighter.
However, I'm surprised you don't notice a difference with altering base color...it should be set to white for the brightest effect.
There is 0 difference between white and black Base Color. It changes the color of the wall in the viewport but no change in the render.
And the translucency weight is 0 by default so I can't really reduce it. xD
A question - if you throw more light at the wall (just for a test), by turning on the camera's headlamp, does the wall then look brighter?
Also, is that shader part of a shader package? If yes, which one?
With headlamp on everything becomes brighter, yeah. But the wall with the shader is still a lot darker than the rest and than the picture of that shader in the promo.
It is part of Homestyle Iray Shaders set.
I have that set, and can try to check out what might be the problem wehn I'm back at my render PC later today, if that is okay with you.
Got it. Changing "base mixing" from the default "PBR Specular/Glossiness" to "Weighted" helped for base color to actually matter. Now I'm gonna go and google what base mixing actually does. xD
DELETED. Me stupid.
