I LOVE those railing stations. It's a nice nod to the ones we see in TNG and beyond but totally look like something we might have seen in TOS. Nice job all around!

The building portion of our program has completed and I've started importing the stateroom set piece by piece into DAZ for assembly, texturing, and lighting.

First up is the bedroom. I'm using the Phase II bed I built because it's bigger than the TOS one, but I've brought a lot of TOS flavor into the room otherwise. I'm sure PDSmith is going to mess with the colors later, but I wanted this to be a kind of warm feeling room, hence the browns and oranges.

Here's an overhead of the 'complete' set before I started importing it into DAZ

Ashley, do you share your sets anywhere?

  • I haven't been able to find a Skant uniform so I had to improvise.  amyaimei's TNG Uniform top, her Kelvin timeline female boots and Powerage's Strict Teacher skirt with some Fit OCntrol work to make it look right.  Here we have Opeations Captain Page going on shore leave coming aboard DS9.

There's a Skant version for the Courageous outfit. DopeFish put it out there along with a TMP uniform and regular TNG uniform.

This one will probably be going up for sale as a test run. PDSmith talked me into trying that out to see how it goes.

    I agree with PD Ash.

It is a tremendous waste of your time not to be selling them.
Plus, the price you set reflects the value they have to you.
$0.00 sale price means no value to you.
Give nothing away. Trade or set a low price but give nothing away.

There are people out here that make a living off our work.
If they have bought it, that's fine but to profit off our effort and creativity giving nothing in return is imoral.

I only use G3 and/or G8 models and haven't puchased all of the clones to use the older V4/M4 cloting with G8 so I am limited in what I cah do.  I did see some uniforms for G2 models over and Rendo.  Just haven't picked them up yet.  Uniform availability for G3/G8 is pretty thin.  Most are for V4,M4 clothing.  I found the new G8 Kelvin timeline and TNG uniforms made and shared by amyaimei and they are nice except that the TNG insignia pips disappear sometimes when the image is rendered (I had to do some post work to get the pips to show uo in hte image I posted abpve in this thread).  It may be a lighting issue.  Also her Kelvin Timeline dress seems to flare out some at the bottom.  If doesn't smooth out when you put the model in a sitting pose.  I'll have to see if I can figure out how to fix that.  Maybe use fit control?

Will it be Poser or DS and if it is DS, where will you be putting it up for sale?

Thanks.  I tried converting some of Ptrope's sets to DAZ Iray and did a meh job of it and would really like to find some sets that are already Iray ready.  It seems that all that are out ther that I can find are Vanishingpoints bridge sets.  A starship is more than just a bridge.

Yeah I use a combination of Fit Control and the Clone to get the outfit to fit G3. Most of the time just the Clone will do it but then others it needs to be tweaked.

Right now it's just DAZ because that's all I have access to. I haven't had a working copy of Poser since 2011. It's built completely with iRay in mind. That's actually how I light all my stuff. I build in all the lighting into the set as much as possible because I hate bringing in lights to do it. I admit it, I'm lazy, so if I can build all the lighting I need to into my sets, I do it that way knowing that iRay is going to do most of the heavy lifting for me. :)  That being said, it'll have an OBJ file ready for it so it can be imported into Poser, but it'll need some work after the import to be useable on that end of it.

And yes, Starships are definitely more than just their bridge, hence my resurrected 3D modeling hobby! ;)

I'd been building them for personal use mostly with a thought others may want to use them, but there's that whole niggling in the back of my mind that they're not quite good enough.  I'm actually really surprised this TOS style set has gotten the kind of response it has over on my deviantart page.  I think that's been the big driver besides PD whispering in my ear. ;)

Having trouble assembling a reasonable Klingon?

Dodger now offers a "TMP" era version that is a stand-alone figure.  Nice surprise, I thought the armor would serve AS the body parts, but instead, it's conforming garments for a unique figure.  It at least allows the possibility for future add-ons, pieces to depict different styles of Klingons given the base figure has enough "head morphs to change the shape to TOS, TMP, Abramsverse and Discovery klingons, as well as romulan, kazon, and the krill from The Orville!"

    I love this K!!!
    Wonderful!

I changed his hair and alteres the finishes a bit to derive this!

By the way. In case anyone didn't make the connection to the post by Redfern, this piece is made possible by Dodger.
    Great work sir.

Yeah, I considered some of those points as a rationale for the comms' size.  Being "field gear" possibly being used in a combat setting, you want those things to be robust as h3ll.  I can imagine a promotion campaign by some contractor, "We just 'fed' this communicator to a Horta, and, as you can see, 'Horty' here has failed to 'digest' it!  The device passed through her system and is still fully functional!"

    Sincerely,

    Bill

I also have a 2341-era (TNG S1-2) Starfleet Uniform for Elizabeth 2 in there. http://threednd.com/E2SFU2341.html
(Plus Orville Planetary Union and Galaxy Quest NSEA uniforms for her as well, for people who want to do crossovers or just use them other races' uniforms with colour changes etc.)

(And, speaking of possible crossovers -- http://threednd.com/narn.html )

    Dodger!
    You are so cool man!
    Great job!

I'm really new to this stuff too but take a look at V4 here.
I sent her over to Hexagon, modified her there and sent her back to DAZ to get this.
I also sent a hair (Denver) over, modified it and sent it back to Daz.
    I'm still tweaking the hair.

I tried to mod your uniform for her but cant make it work for her.
Can you make the mods for the chest and waist???

Because living areas are meant to be lived in, I did up a few test renders with people in them to also test my lighting.

and on with the last room I detailed, the Dining, breakfast nook and kitchen area

I remembered the plants this time. :P

I kept the deigns simple but aimed for elegant for TOS, but pulled in a few ideas for the food synthesizer from Discovery, but kept it more TOS. I rendered this out without the 'glass' chandeliers fully lit.

    Built in Truespace 3.2
Rendered in DAZ Studio 4.10 with iRay
    Collab with PDSmith
Pike Era uniform textures for Valiant and Courageous by mylochka
DAZ base figures V4 and Genesis

    Thank you!

I built a short section of corridor TOS style to sit outside the Stateroom. It can only be shot from a few angles because of the open end on one side, but it feels more attached to a ship/starbase this way I think.

Revisiting my Destroyer set corridors and actually building corridors as opposed to just having them attached to the Destroyer sets. I also tried to blend in more of a TOS feel so this is more like TOS Enhanced. I need to build doors, get some signage made, and I'm putting in the grav plating markings on the floor we saw in Enterprise Mirror Darkly. Going 2 routes with it too, regular lighting and materials emulating TOS and then another set that's a bit glossier and would fit more with Discovery. :)

Then I went and built a CIC / Mission Ops for the Phase II/TMP era using some parts from my revamped Engineering set and built a new pool table. :)
