Poses -Compatibles figures
I was searching for love poses, and I noticed that many had in the general description the name of a generic figure, but in the title or written description, the name of a specific character. For instance this one or that one .
The general description says for instance : "Compatible Figures :Genesis"
But the description says : "A realistic set of couples poses for Justin and Julie"
Or the description says : "Compatible Figures: Genesis 3 Female, Genesis 3 Male"
But the title is : "Couple in Love Poses for Michael 7 & Victoria 7"
I'm not sure what I should assume : that the pose, despite being made for specific characters, can be be used with the generic figure or that the pose is made specifically for these characters and won't work the the generic figure? If the latter, why does the description mention the generic figure rather than the character? I found at least one that specifically states that it works for both : "20 romantic couple poses for Victoria 7 and Michael 7 as well as Genesis 3 Female and Male too", but I'm not sure I can assume that it will be the same for others products.

If it says for V7 and M7 it means they are specifically made for V7 and M7 but will work on G3 too. M7 and V7 have diffrent bodies than the G3 base figures and may need some slight adjustment due to that if you want to use them on other G3 figures.
If it says Genesis then they will only work on the genesis base figure and not on G2, G3 and G8. You'll need a pose converter in order for them to work on them. For example this one https://www.sharecg.com/v/89846/browse/8/Script/Daz3d-Pose-Converter-Standalone, which is surpisingly better than the paid ones.
That's just half of it...
M4/V4&Genesis 1& Genesis 2 poses can be used on each other. They only have differences in the feet and hands, which can be easily adjused using this product: https://www.daz3d.com/handy-dandy
If you have specific names in a pose set, that means that the poses are adjusted to meet the special proportions of the mentioned characters. For the teen characters, they would have different proprtions from the adults, and so you'd have to tweak the pose if you'd apply it to an adult character. You will always have that problem when you have a figure that is not 100% using the measures of whatever character is mentioned. It's not as bad as it sounds, though, unless you are using couple poses, the problem is usually mostly in the arm angles.
You also usually can use male poses on females, and vice versus, though most female poses have exaggerated hip and chest movements, which can look weird on males. Male poses, on the other hand, add a good deal of realism to females.
Thank you a lot, both of you. Very helpful.
There are several products in the marketplace however that will allow you to create pose sets from your existing poses for other versions of Genesis, so quite easily you can convert poses that you have, either full pose or partials so that you can use them with different versions of Genesis. I recommend looking into these types of products since it will take your pose library and expand its usefulness across many other figure versions, this allows you to really take advantage of being able to buy poses you like and convert them for the figure you are using.
