My figures vanish - why?

New to DS, although I used to be a big user of Poser, years ago so I have tons of objects, people, etc., left from my previous account.

I've installed DS on my Mac and it seems to be working OK.  The problem is that although I can see the figures as available for download and I can see that something is being downloaded, the item seems to just vanish once the download is complete. Where do they go? and why don't they just stay in the folder that they were downloaded from?

I'm getting a little frustrated now so any help/advice would be welcome.
