After lurking about and checking out everyone's cool art, I thought I should finally start up my own art thread. Daz Studio has helped me realize a lot of the art I see in my head, but could never get down on paper.
This one is for a story I wrote. I kept seeing this scene in my head as I was writing it, so I took a break from the text, fired up Daz and went to work on this.
I wrote up some of my process in more detail for those who might be interested: http://hype3d.com/the-cold-elf-daz-studio-photoshop/.

great job !
Very Nice work. I like the style.
Thanks guys! I appreciate the compliments
Marvel Comics super-hero Nova.
There's actually a new Nova now, so I'll probably do one of him, too.
A character of mine from a comic series I'm working on. I might have went a little overboard on the bump mapping on his face. I'll make sure to tone it down next time.
I love the fact that you share your WIPs and your experimental rationales on your 3d site. That's a significant boon to the community.
I agree with Jaderail, great work and cool style.
Welcome to the Art Studio, jg :-)
What they said! And your comics are very cinematic and well written. Bravo! :)

Apologies if you already know this, you might be interested in these comics-orientated threads. The original was split off after 100 pages, as is the practice here. The reboot is coming along nicely if you want to share your Nova and Power Girl :cheese:
Thanks again everyone! Those kind words are much appreciated!
I actually did not know about those threads, so thank you for the links. I'm off to peruse and post now! :)
I actually really like the bump mapping on the face, on both the portraits. It's your style to have crisp details for those- if you like it, keep it! The overall feel of all your work is dynamic and EXCITING! Kudos! And post more :)

Thanks Novica! That's what I was going for :)
Here's a sci-fi character of mine named Niva. I have a post about her up on my 3D site that I did earlier this year. The image in this forum post is recently updated. When I looked at the first image, I felt like I didn't push it far enough, so I went back into Photoshop and added some more textures, really hit those levels to add some punch, and juiced up the saturation a bit.
The reason it looks so off balance is because I'm going to add some text off to the left. The original text I planned to use ended up looking stupid, so I removed it. I'll come up with something later...
Ok second try. Not sure why this forum eats some of my posts...
Anyway, here's the earlier version of Niva, so you don't have to go all the way to my site to compare it. You can see this version is less vibrant and less developed than the image in the previous post...
I especially like the Nova one! :)
Thanks Eamon! I definitely had a blast doing that one.
I posted this one in the Teleblender thread a few months back.
This is the nameless elf from my "Life-Taker" comic. I decided to do another render of her from Blender.
I added Blender particle hair but kind of screwed it up. I know how to fix it now, so next time I use it I should be able to make it behave better.
Here's that first elf again in a scene from my ebook "The Cold Elf". This one was rendered in Daz Studio with Photoshop postwork.
This is the cover to "The Cold Elf" ebook.
I modeled the title text in Blender and rendered it from there using Cycles.
From there, I dropped that in place in Photoshop, cropped in really close on the Elf's face, and added my author text in Photoshop.
I posted this one in this month's PC Inspiration Contest as well, and thought I'd show it here, too.
“We know who the bad guys are. We know where they are. Now…let’s go save the world.”
I don't know my my subscription to this thread (and others) is borked :vampire:
Regardless, this is amazing! Bravo!
I've been doing some work with a site called Steampunkgoggles.com, and I used Daz for most of the artwork.
They wanted a character wearing their logo, so I came up with this one. It's a combined Daz Studio and Blender effort.
Looking very nice sofar! one of my favourite
Thanks much, Gandoza!
This is another piece I did for the steampunkgoggles.com website recently.
I made up this comic video for them using Daz Studio and iMovie. It's not truly "animated", or I would have placed it in the animation subforum, but I had fun doing it and it came out better than I expected:
Steampunkgoggles - The Comic Movie
Besides Daz, I ended up using Illustrator, Photoshop and iMovie to make it.
Superior Spider-Man.
Really nice work...love your style...Trish
Thanks much Trish!
Here's another shot of the main character Jorr from my fantasy ebook The Cold Elf (http://thecoldelf.com/).
Havok of the X-Men.
Icon from DC Comics. Setup and posed in Daz, rendered it in Blender using the Cycles renderer.
