G1 vs G2

I have been away for a while, and am confused bout the new G2. Is there a FAQ somewhere about the differences?

A couple questions

I have the V5 pro bundle, lots of morphs and characters, do I now have to purchase all that again for G2?

Can I use V4/V5 clothing on G2?

In summary what is the benefit of G2?

Regards

Eric

It is G2F as in Female only (so far) and clothing for Genesis works out of the box but you need the V4 shape for G2F for V4 clothing to work. V5 textures work but must be in duf format and the V4 shape adds V4 texture support but also must be in duf format. And G2F morphs are needed but Genesis morphs can be added by hand, a thread in commons is all about it.

As to the need for it, that up to you you should have the G2F starter essentials in your Downloads. It's free to all.

Thanks for the info. So will it be typical moving forward that there will be 2 different versions of product and will not be compatible, or is it a vendor choice? For instance I want to get
    http://www.daz3d.com/dark-elves-for-genesis

And if I end up getting gf2 I would have to buy it again?
    http://www.daz3d.com/dark-elves-for-genesis-2-female-s

Also a question on morphs. I have
    http://www.daz3d.com/genesis-creature-creator-bundle
I would follow that thread in the commons you listed to use that?

At this time it seems that yes we need two sets for most things, Genesis and G2F are different meshes. It's really up to you as a user what you decide to support.

This is my View on it all. Genesis is a BE anything figure, it can be a man M4/M5 or a woman V4/V5 or it can be any number of monsters.
The new G2F is the new Female shape that does REAL good women shapes. They look much better than G1 and bend better.

I chose to support both so I can have the best of both worlds. If Genesis by itself does all you need you do not need to support G2F.

So if I got dark elves for genesis, I could use the clothing and props on girl 6/g2, and if I saved the textures as a duf( is that the correct extension), I could also use that on girl6/g2?

Or what exactually could I share between g & girl6/g2, if anything?

Dark Elves for Genesis is a character only, meaning morphs and textures. No props/clothing are in this pack. Midnight Huntress for Genesis and Midnight Huntress for Genesis 2 Female are the props/clothing.

Dark Elves for Genesis uses V4 textures. The morph is compatible only with Genesis, but the texture may be used on V4 base as well since it's her UVs it uses.
The texture for this may be used on G2F as well if you have the V4 for G2F product; however, the Genesis morph will not work on G2F. You would need Dark Elves for Genesis 2 Female to get a properly working morph for G2F.

With the clothing packs (Midnight Huntress), it's really up to you on which figure you want the better fit for. If you buy it for Genesis, but use it on G2F, then you end up going through autofit and risk getting something less than ideal. However, if you buy it for Genesis 2 Female and want to use it on Genesis 1, then you'd need the Genesis 2 Female autofit clone for Genesis.

Thanks for the information. Which conversion works better for clothing, G2F-->G1 or G-->G2F, or are the results the same on the new figure?

I can't speak regarding the quality of the G2F-->G1 clone as I don't have it, and what I've done regarding G1-->G2F has been decent. I've read some things regarding shoes, but that's to be expected (Gen4 to Genesis wasn't all that grand in the shoe conversions, either).
