Carrara Pro 8.5 Newbie Question about Morphs - Be gentle :-)

Good Afternoon Everyone,

I purchased Carrara Pro yesterday and am in the process of figuring it all out. I have been using Daz Studio and have purchased several figures, models. etc... from the official Daz store. All of these, including morph packs show up just fine in Carrara, but I have a few morphs that I purchased from outside Daz (as they are not available). These morphs do not show up in Carrara, under the 'Parameters" tab at least. They do (however) show up in Daz Studio (4.6) in both the Smart Content pane and the content library. I am also a victim of the invalid serial number bug, and am using Carrara in trial mode, could this be why? Any ideas? Thanks!

Rich S.

As far as I know, the trial is only time limited. As to the rest, what figure are you using?

    Hi Evilproducer,

They are Genesis morphs, actually there are a couple of Genesis 2 morphs as well, but I am not sure those would work in Carrara anyway. I have the *.dsf files for the morphs in "My Library" and the show and work fine in Daz Studio. Thanks!

I don't have Genesis, so I can't help. Sorry about that. Hopefully someone with a bit more experience will pop in here and be able to help you. Good luck!

I've been using Carrara for years, but never used Studio before, so Genesis is still very new to me. Plus I haven't tried to install any Genesis stuff I've purchased outside of Daz (though thinking about it, I think most of the character sets that I've bought from Silver have Genesis versions, so when I get a chance I'll try and install one of those and see if I can't get Carrara to recognize and provide the morph sliders).

It's a shame, but one of the people I think most likely to be able to help (one of those who I think extensively beta tested Genesis in Carrara), isn't on this forum any more (for reasons I don't understand, I've heard he is banned). But he hangs out at the Renderosity forums, so I'm thinking you may also want to post this question there, and he may be able to help.

For what it's worth, I agree with Evil and don't think that running in trial mode should make any difference.

Just out of curiosity, specifically what morph packages are you referring to? Being more specific may actually help others to be able to give a better answer.

If you're referring to who I think you are, he's also posting at the Carrara Cafe as well. So feel free to post something there as well. The place could use a little love by visitors. I try and post occasionally.

There's also free downloads on the main site, and a freepository in the forums where you can download small zip files with shaders, scene elements and models that other Carraraists have created and made available.

    Thanks JonStark and EvilProducer!

I am using morphs from Babbelbub. I also noticed that none of the Carrara content is available either. I think these items might be related. I installed the 64-bit Mac version using DIM, and it seems there might be a bug? Thanks again!

Morphs usually don't show up in the content library since Genesis. They are stored in the data-directory (don't know how it's named on a Mac) and show automatically on the parameters tabs in Studio and Carrara.

Are you sure, those dsf-files are morphs? If yes, try to save them in Studio as duf and see if they show up in Carrara.

    Hi Frank__ and Everyone,

I was able to get the morphs to show up in Carrara by moving them from my User Library into the default Library used by DIM. Once I did that they showed up and started to work. Now I need to figure out how to get textures to "match." When I add a geo-grafted component to the fiigure, the textures never match-up with the rest of the figure. It's funny, as it (still) works fine in Daz Studio. Thanks!
