So scary --DAZ actually followed thru on a vers release date does that possibly mean a vers 9 could
So look at what was posted in February 2013
A CarraraCafe exclusive news piece, straight for Daz HQ in Utah.
It is the February news announcement that brings the release dates for both Carrara 8.5 and 9.
We will be releasing Carrara 8.5 by end of summer 2013, and are working on some plans to release 9.0 either Q4 or Q1 2014.
Carrara 8.5 will include:
- Support for up to Windows 8 and OSX 10.8
- DSON support
– Metadata support
- New animation tools (keyframe tool improvements, smoothing, keying every frame, etc.)
- Graph editor improvements
- Improvements to viewport avatars (Lights – spotlight, sun, moon, etc. Cameras – Conical, Isometric, etc.)
-JUST IN: Improved bullet simulation for soft bodies

So much of this february announcement became true -----so I wonder what DAZ is working on for version 9? And are they still on that target time or has it been extended?
I think we waited such a bit for 8.5 not even sure if there was any discussion for feature requests or when the last time that was done ..heck if they are even going to release in 2nd qtr 2014 not much time to add some items.
Anyhow --Daz what are your plans for version 9 ?
BTW --the more I use 8.5 the more I like it.

Regarding liking 8.5 more and more... see what I mean about just being smoother and faster? It's just a much better Carrara in addition to the rest of what came with it.
So I'm still excited about the news. I'm sure they didn't just post that info out of the blue. As exciting as it is to see what we will have in 9 Pro, I'm in no huge hurry for it. I've certainly got my hands full with this. I do know that they (those who work on Carrara) really take their work seriously - and that they want us all to really get the features we need the most. So although I'm in total bliss jamming on this incredible software, the thought of nine coming around the corner truly makes me a bit anxious, too! :)
