Now this might be more of a thing for daz, not sure. I want to make what basicly amounts to a proton pack. The problem is while I can get the individual parts to connect, how does one make a hose in daz? Or do you have to import a bunch of objects to create a chain of links from the pack to the neutrona wand?

It's the ghostbuster thing right...
The hose has to be rigged.
Modeling in Hexagon shouldn't be any problem, but for the hose it's important to use a lot of polygons.
And still it's difficult to get it to bend right.
I made something similar :cheese: a while ago, so it's posible.

Ok, well thats not too hard, I just have to figure out how to rig in daz. Know of any good tutorials that don't cost money?
If you want to animate it, you'll need to rig it as Varsel explains. If it's for a still image, you can just draw the center line in 3D and add thickness. Or you can use the spline modeler in Carrara.
In the old forum there were some good tutorials about rigging, for the Figure Setup Tool.
I did a search but couldn't find them...
But http://www.youtube.com/user/rbtwhiz?feature=watch has some basic tutorial for rigging.
It's for DS3 but if you are new to rigging they will give you the basic idea what it's all about.

Questions about the rigging might get some better answers in the DAZ Studio Discussion forum
Take a look at easy pose. Its a technology for doing exactly what you're trying to do. There are a lot of freebies available as well as a utility for rolling your own.
Unfortunately, its poser 4 vintage so it may not work in DS.
I can't find the utility anywhere

The Easy Pose Tube 2.0 is the most generic of all these things.

I have a number of easy pose items that work well in DAZ.
Cool
Different freebies have different functionality, so check out a few til you find one you like.

Really easy to work with. Materials need to be tweaked in Daz, but making a glossy black, or clear glossy tube isn't that hard. Other easy posing, especially free ones can be quirky. at times as pwiecek implies.
