Chamfer only certain edges

Hi,

started using Hexagon and not really sure how the chamfer tool should work.

If I chamfer all edges of one side of a cube, everything works perfect, chamfer cuts loops and generates only quads.

If I try to chamfer only certain edges, chamfer just creates edges around the chamfered edge, resulting in ngons. (see attached image).

I've seen a workaround with extracted curves and ruled surfaces, but for a 2D chamfer issue.

Should chamfer work this way, is there an easy way to get loop cuts instead of only edges ?

    Select edge loops to chamfer.

It's just the nature of the beast is all.
