My "Caravaggio"

Saw a thing about Caravaggio someone shared on fbook, which got me looking at his paintings online. I wanted to try the lighting, and here it is. Caravaggio would have had her a floating angel with wings guiding Saint So and So, but this being DAZ, she's a sorceress whispering spells in his ear to help him in battle. The male is the dragon slayer that comes with DAZ, untouched. The woman was posed from zero. One main linear point light, another dimmer one to light his left hand, uber environment "softbox" at lowered intensity to slightly light the backsides of the figures. Raytracing on. 3Delight render.

Very nicely done! Lighting is lovely, very effectve and captures the Caravaggio style. Can't beat the old masters eh!
Read some of his biographies, interesting (but difficult!) character.
Lovely homage and look on the faces of expression.
The technical term for this kind of lighting/composition is Chiaroscuro.
If you're looking for more inspiration, another artist famous for using it is Joseph Wright of Derby.
Thanks, guys.
This looks great, love it
