I'll make a picture, then show my wife and ask her what's going on in the scene.  She saw in this one the essential action of a guy telling a story, and I felt I nailed it.  The verb.  The rest of the sentence (who he's talking to, what he's saying, etc.) would be suggested by the costume, scenery and lighting. The pose is the verb of a picture.

Agreed,  if done right,  the pose along with the expression,  can convey quite a bit of storytelling to the audience.
