Modeling Genesis Clothing in Carrara?

It should be possible, right?

Carrara has all the kickass modeling tools and can work with Genesis figures at almost every level—vertex editing, bone manipulation, distortion... now, what's the process? How do we make this happen?

I think you could easily make the mesh in Carrara, but you'll have to rig it in Studio I believe.

It suggests that for all Carrara can do, only Daz Studio can come to the rescue and get this operation done.

Maybe it does. It may also be horribly depressing.

EDIT: Read the description of the Transfer Utility more carefully.

If it were just a matter of copying the rigging, that could be done by copying an instance of the Genesis figure and removing its skin, isn't it? Then associating the skeleton to the new mesh? This is the sort of thing Carrara can do. And some of it is weight mapping, which the Carrara user can do manually.

It may be messy, but if a way can be found to do it without mashing it into and dragging it back out of Daz Studio, it's a start.

It was like that before Genesis. Carrara wouldn't allow you to create clothes that could be shared, but you could build your own clothes or adapt clothes from other figures quite easily ( thanks to Wendy, see this link ).

SO, if you're working for yourself, it is possible. If you want to share or to market, you need studio.

    Hey ,
You can make clothes in Carrara, you do need Daz but once you know the process you will have your clothes in Carrara's browser ready to use there. . Here is the steps off the top of my head
    .
1.Open the Genesis figure in Carrara.
2.Model the Clothes you want over top of the Genesis Figure.
3.Export your model as an OBJ using Daz Studio Scene in the export options. This is important to line up the clothing mesh and the Genesis figure in Daz.
4.Use the Content Creator Kit in Daz to conform the clothing mesh to the Genesis figure.
5.If your clothing mesh shows up in the Daz Library it should show up in Carrara's browser too.
    Hope this helps ,
