I used to be able to use this product, but now when I click to apply the lights in a scene, the lights show up as usual, just emit no light when I render Is there a bug I'm not aware of? I did upgrade to 4.6
It is very strange.

Upgrade from what? If from DS3 you will need to reinstall the light. You will also need to reinstall, assuming I'm right in thinking that's working, if you are using the public beta of DS as that has its own folder and shader need to have certain files in the application folder itself.
When I used 4.5 I could use this light. I am now using 4.6.0.18
When I load the light, it looks like it will work, even puts a light in the scene. But the light has no light.
I do have the beta installed, but am not using it presently.
I just tested it and it is still working for me (4.6.0.18).
Hmm. maybe I'm doing something wrong. I did uninstall and reinstall. All my other lights work. It just makes the character black. No light. I click on the uber point help link, and it just takes me to a readme which doesn't include any help on how to use the product.
It's entirely possible I'm doing something wrong, but don't see how. Seem to remember it was quite simple to use. Just point and move to the correct location. I haven't used it in months though.
I'm going to remove it again and try re-installing it and reimporting its data.
Well as it is a point light, there is no 'pointing' of it, however yes you should be able to just position it. The default falloff is pretty small relative to other lights (the nature of a point light) so if it isn't close to what you are trying to illuminate, there will be no light. I used it for the candles and (part of the) firelight* in this image.
* The firelight was made up of multiple lights.
I have solved my issue. For some reason, certain dim installers do not work correctly. I uninstalled the dim version and used the manual installer and voila! The tochlight is back. Not sure why the dim installer didn't work for me.
Thanks Gedd and Richard for your attempts to help. You both are very helpful.
You probably had the same issue I just did. DIM automatically installs the script files (the files that go into the program folder itself, not the library files) to the newest version of DS that's detected in DIM's application settings, which in our case would be the beta as it adds itself once you install it through DIM. It completely ignored my general release version installation.
It would be nice to be able to choose which daz installation that plugins should go to.
I have uninstalled the beta. I don't want dim to be confused. And I wasn't really using it. I really appreciate you taking the time to write Vaskania. In the past you've always given me very helpful advice.
Np. At least now, and in the future, if you decide to install multiple versions of the same app, and have them listed in DIM, you'll know what's going on. :)
That's good to know, thanks Vaskania, and I'm glad you got it working SereneNight.
