How do you make a suspend material (cloth) in a metal frame

I need to make a suspend material (cloth) similar to the webbing on the backstop on a baseball diamond behind home plate or a cargo net. However I’m not sure how to make it look cloth and I’m not talking about the texture but more of the feel and the look of the material with little gravity pull. It would be great if there was both webbing and solid examples.

A few examples...

Well, I am no expert, but as far as my experience goes, Hexagon does not care about materials or gravity. I just uses polygons to create meshes. Everything else is up to you.

In this case I would try to make the mesh for the cloth a bit irregular. Try the displacement brush and smooth brush for this.

But to give it a real cloth look you have to experiment with the correct texture, maybe bump maps and the correct materiel settings in your render software.

    Hope that helps a bit.

    Something like the attached?

Make a grid with the required number of polys. Select all the edges and extrude - Vertex modelling -> Edge tools -> extract around. Delete the centre polys, leaving a grid. Add thickness. Select the centre with soft select and drag downwards to give it that gravity pull look.

If you want it really realistic, with the woven over and under - I'd use extruded polylines - that will take a bit of planning and it's bedtime, so I'm off for now. Will look back in tomorrow to see if you need anything else :)

    Roygee,

That's what I need for now, I'm not 100% sure of the shape I'll be using due to the frame and it's good starting place. I might post questions just in case I ran into problems.

    Thanks,
