Show me yr visual art that is only partially comprised of 3D renders.

I enjoy seeing visual art that people make, where a 3D render is only a part of the image – where one or more 3D renders are incorporated into a larger picture made by other techniques, like painting, drawing, photography and so on.

Of course many of us use photographs as backgrounds already. But as regards photographs, I like to see the photos used as not mere backgrounds.

Anyway, I will hereby give a name to this type of visual art. I will call it “subsumed renders”.

I would suspect that subsumed renders would be popular with folks like me who have ancient computers that can’t really handle large scenes, or who simply don’t want to deal with composing such scenes, or who simply want to experiment.

I made my first subsumed render when I was looking for things to collage into one of my computer colored drawings. Here is a link to it: https://www.deviantart.com/luqu/art/Accusation-Shmaccusation-763019813

So now I invite you to show me your subsumed renders.

Every image I do is a composite that uses a render then I add quite a bit of different things to it in photoshop.

  • I do mostly composites too. Here is the 1st render I did, the dragon, and it's the only thing in the image that's 3D

IceDragon, it looks to me like you do subsumed renders that are made to look like they are not subsumed renders, by means of a lot of well executed postwork.

Perhaps a sub category of "subsumed render" could be "extreme postwork", in which the subsumed render is made to look as if it plausibly could have been a full scene render - or that the subsumed render is made to look like it's not a reder at all, but a construct of the other medium in which it is subsumed.

Ya. IceDragon and deathbycanon do exelent composite work.

But my personal favorite kind of "subsumed render" is the kind where the "compositing" is obvious and technically "flawed", looking like a collage.

Ya, that's not something I'm very good at.  Although it might be fun to put something together like this.
