Here I have mixed Unity3D (free or not) Assets and Daz Products for a very interesting render :

I've heared of Unity3D as a place to get free models, but I have not investigated it yet. Perhaps I will. Does one simply Google search on "Unity3D free models"?

The best way : You install the free version of Unity3D and you click on the Asset Store (panel) to download hundreds of wonderful free models ! There are a lot of great artists !

Now with the .fbx importer in Daz4 it's easy to use them.

You can use the Unity3D website and the store to better see all the (free) models then you copy/paste the name into the Unity3D software to download the packages ! You can use the included .fbx files or you can export them thanks to the free .fbx exporter !

There are some free assets on other websites too, like on Bitgem 3D where I could download for free the orc tower above.

Don't hesitate to look at their forum because some people give models away too... permanently or for a few days.
