How 'Bout These Freckles

I'm attempting to do some of my own textures, and this is my first attempt at freckles. My husband has suggested more dense across the nose and cheeks with maybe smaller freckles in that area. Opinions? Suggestions?

From what I've seen, freckles seem stronger in a band across the top of the nose and over the top of the cheeks then dissipate above and below that line. Just my opinion. Nice texture, looks good so far.

Updated it some (note: the eyebrows are actually not part of the texture) A little lower on the cheeks maybe?

Good work! I really love the freckles. Been waiting for a freckled/blemished character skin to be sold at daz forever. Nice render, and very cool.

The only input I can have is The freckles may be a touch uniformly round some should be more blotchy and more clustered They also will be on the lips of the figure too.

This image of a freckled young woman shows the blotchy side of freckles

Too much? More color/size variation? I'm going in baby steps. Freckles are hard, and the only ones I have for reference are on my nose and shoulders :D (I'm just looking at the face right now; haven't done the body texture update yet)

Very, very good. I think this one is too much. Your 7:37 post was best. On the fingers -- I think freckles on the palm side don't happen and are rare on the sides -- backs look good.

Not sure about this but, I presume that freckles would be lightest from the palms running up the forearms and inside arms up to the armpit.
With few freckles if any, on palms and inside/between fingers. As stated above .

I am trying hard to remember how my schoolmate from elementary school looked like (it´s been a while...). She had a lot of freckles. I think picture No. 2 is the closest to her appearance. Only maybe her freckles were darker in color.

Going through various Google images, there are obviously people who resemble picture 2 but also others who are closer to your pic No. 3.

I would buy any of these, but I like the second one best so far.

I have to agree, I like the 2nd one the best as well.

Im freckled. Very. My base skin tone is a bit darker, and so while I have more freckles than a lot of people, they don't stand out as starkly and come in a lot of different shades.

    I liked your second version.

Interesting project. The thing which throws me off the most in the first instance (and I appreciate this isn't main thrust of the thread) but do red haired, fair skinned people have dark eyes? The second image seems to work the best freckle wise (aside the palms) but the eyes look wrong to me......and the eyebrows are too flat. ;-)

Hah! Yes, they can, though it isn't nearly as common. That, however, was just me playing with a picture I'd just taken of my son's eyes :D He's 3 and wanted to help :D

and the eyebrows are too flat. ;-)

Yes, they are :D Eyebrows are the last thing I'm going to do. I know it sounds insane, but those are more important to me than almost any other feature :D

Thank you all for the feedback. It is very helpful. I have googled images of freckles, so I do have some reference pictures, but things look "not quite right", and I need another pair of eyes to tell me why. I've gone back to number 2 and made some adjustments. I think this is closer to what I've been trying to go for.

    I love these!
Have been on the hunt for a freckled face myself for the girls Male-media brought out last month.

Very nice indeed. It now looks like an attractive girl with freckles rather than someone with an unpleasant skin disorder,

I think that you have a better density spread being more prominent where the sun hits and the eyes are spectacularly good. Very believable all round, aside the eyebrows ;-)

Have you thought about doing the eyebrows on a separate conformer, if this is Genesis/G2F? That would let people use the character with different hair colors (my grandma and sister have this many freckles if they're in the sun and neither has red hair). I'd be happy to share one I made that has the V5 UV if that's the UV this character is on. No credit required. I just like separate eyebrows.

Hmmm. Actually maybe I should just upload that to ShareCG as a merchant resource anyway.

Yes, I had actually :D This is a V4 (base features even), and the eyebrows are on the eyebrow material and not the face itself. I have yet to venture into Genesis or Genesis 2 territory (I have them, but Daz confuses me and the DSON Importer doesn't like me much). My plan was to set up the shaders so you can just change one color to get the eyebrow color you want. I *had* it set up, but I messed it up somewhere along the line, so I'll have to figure it out again. I actually started making my own textures because I wanted different brows than the ones that came with the ones I'd bought.

Well, that works great, then. :-)

At least on the V4 UV everyone can use it.

Yup. Eyebrows on the eyebrow mat and not the face. Two styles in 5 colors. I'm having a time with lips though.

    Nice work. Looks very good.
Watch out for freckles in a straight line as your eye gets drawn to them, like on the shoulder.

I'd totally missed that! I've been so focused on the face. Thank you!
