    Don't we know it, eh?

Well, indeed. I imagine that it'd be a particular shock to Daz women though, even more so given some of the body shapes I've seen...

Actually, it would be really awesome to live in a world where your body shape magically adjusted to the clothes instead. frown

I do actually remember reading a fantasy setting where that kind of thing could happen - the inside of the clothes were a pocket dimension, so they were bigger on the inside and you fitted them rather than them fitting you.

Well, it seems that last one of mine went down surprisingly well for a stupid idea that got stuck in my head. Afraid though that this next one isn't a busty woman whose clothes don't fit, although it is at least of the times.

With apologies to any arachnophobes in the audience...

Early testing of a geograft I'll be using to bring an arachne character of mine to life in DS.

It still needs some more work done, and then I've got to transfer the character themselves (this character is just a stand-in), but I'm reasonably happy so far, given this is my first attempt at a rigged geograft.

Not that this isn’t a worthwhile venture, or that you’re not doing a good job of it, but why not just buy this?

  • Matt_CastleMatt_Castle Posts: 2,595

I did look at it when it originally came out, but as much as I do want to support such products, it's not really close enough for what I needed. Nyx already has an established look, and one of the limitations of the Black Widow model is that because the front legs are an HD morph of G8F's legs, you have to dial in the entire morph, even if you don't want the morphed torso and arms. (Although the head does at least seem to be a separate morph).

In any case, this did give me the opportunity to learn how to set up a (relatively simple) rigged geograft.

Still a little rough around the edges, but after sorting her face and textures, working out how to bash her hairstyle together and dialling in her body shape, Nyx Heragatera comes to life in Daz Studio.

(She will normally wear more clothes, but hey, it's a model test).

Cut this one off early as I wasn't happy with how the stone textures were looking close up. Might go back to fix it later.

This one's been hanging around in my to-do list for a while, as I originally planned to add various background characters/monsters to it, but in some ways I was already content with it, so I eventually rendered it as is.

    "Fermented"

For those rare few victims of the ghoul virus who do not degenerate into mindless beasts and instead reach a symbiotic stability, they're left with the question of what to do with their now potentially very long existences. This is not necessarily to say that their choice necessarily has to be a particularly profound one...

WIP shot that still needs some tweaks and a scene built around it.

I decided to promote the buxom elf into a recurring role - my setting has already established some details of the mother of the redhead elf twins Ginger and Jinx (namely that she had a one night stand in the late 60s and managed to end up with two sproglings off the back of it), but she's was of yet uncast. She may need some minor tweaks to help her fit in, but she's a good start.

In any case, her daughters have apparently not inherited all of her traits, but they're also cheeky sods who know how to find novelty t-shirts on the internet.

Isn't it fun when your family of character just takes on life of its own, and things snap into place in ways you didn't expect? laugh And I know a lot of people who would argue that brewing is a very profound way of (un)life.

Oh, and about Nyx: I don't know if you're planning on selling the spider geograft, or just use it for your own work, but having options is never a bad thing. Even if something similar exists, like you said, maybe it's not exactly what buyers are looking for. Or maybe they'll even want both, for a sense of variety. There are many different types of spiders!

Alas, the geograft isn't something I can make available for sale, as it's not entirely my work.

That said, I'm not beyond remaking it from scratch. The current mesh is okay, but not brilliant, and while starting from it meant I could jump straight into the art of learning how to rig geografts, the character wouldn't suffer from me turning it into a complete renovation.

Half of the creation of the setting has been things snapping together in ways I wasn't expecting...

Huh. Well, as similar as it is (even apparently even down to using the same set*), I swear it's completely coincidental!

*For what it's worth, I have previously established that Athena lives in Modern House 2, because as amazing an asset as it is, she's one of my few characters who is actually well off enough to believably own it!

Following up on that WIP from a few months back...

Although I've previously uploaded renders of Whisky, we're now introducing her daughters - who are both cheeky sods who are well aware they don't have their mother's problems in finding clothes that fit properly, but do know how to find novelty t-shirts on the internet.

    Family and Giant Lizards:

Although historically, the hardiness of dragonhide made them a very dangerous threat, the relationship has settled down in more modern years. Although they are now largely limited to carefully protected reserves to keep them hidden from the human population, many people within the Veil now take trips to see these rare and majestic creatures.

... another clothing mishap I've found in the bottom of my WIP renders folder (this time from February 2019) and tried to clean up. This one is specifically for the hoopy froods in the audience.

    Finite Improbability:

The principle of generating small amounts of finite improbability by simply hooking the logic circuits of a Bambleweeny 57 Sub-Meson Brain to an atomic vector plotter suspended in a strong Brownian Motion producer (say a nice hot cup of tea) were of course well understood - and such generators were often used to break the ice at parties by making all the molecules in the hostess's undergarments leap simultaneously one foot to the left, in accordance with the Theory of Indeterminacy.

Many respectable physicists said that they weren't going to stand for this - partly because it was a debasement of science, but mostly because they didn't get invited to those sort of parties.

Continuing a clean-up of unfinished projects...

    Overdrive:

A major design specification for Athena was that her chassis had to be capable of physically moving at least twice as fast as a human soldier; Although her AI nature inherently improves her "thinking time", this is only one factor in overall reaction speed. Being able to physically draw, aim, shoot and reload faster than a human soldier is a vast advantage, as is the ability to rapidly redeploy in response to new threats or cross firelanes more quickly.

This alacrity was largely hidden after her return to civilian life in 2014. Officially, this is because her full capabilities are classified; unofficially, most people find such turns of speed both inhuman and intimidating.

Things did become different after she broke the Veil. Surrounded by a patchwork of different species, each with their own unique traits, her abilities were less strange; still considerable, but not quite so alien. In the culture of Albion, she has been able to cut loose rather more.

Most obviously to those around, she has often been seen running with Rina Jones - although Athena derives no health benefit herself, it provides both with the opportunity to socialise. (Chicersted, the village that serves as the base for Cerberus's London division, has very few centaurs*, and thus very few running partners that can match their speed).

*As previously discussed, centaurs have become fairly isolated in the modern age. While more humanoid creature species can usually travel between veiled settlements using regular cars (although both glamours and tinted windows are often a necessity), this isn't usually viable for centaurs and they consequently seldom travel.
Officially, Athena can hit 80 kph (50 mph) in a run, although many commentators suspect that her actual top speed is actually considerably higher - either way, more than enough to keep up with a centaur.

Not a very proper render, but I picked up the Technomancer props/poses yesterday as part of triggering one of the flash sales, and I decided to see how well I could make them work on Nyx.

This one is a few days old now, but following some (facetious) conversation on the "Daz Slackers" Discord about whether taurs counted as bottomless and thus needed to go in the nudity section, I contrived this particular silliness:

She's doing alright for her age.

As is, I saw a suggestion on the Daz Discord for a render of a zombie holding her boobies in her hands, which seemed kind of specific, but give the people what they want...

Indeed it is - and here we have a similarly inspired piece. During a discussion on the Discord about callipygian ladies, I ended up sarcastically posting Nyx as "a woman with long legs and a plump rear", which has grown into this.

This is a bit vainer than Nyx would normally be, but we'll assume it's an important event of some sort.
