How to make parts of a 3D Prop movable. 3D Modelling Tutorial for 3D Animation.

This is an easy-to-make modelling tutorial.

Ever bought a 3D prop (object) for an animation and thought "I wish it would be more interactive" or "move in this way". You can edit the object, split it up and make an inside to the object.

I show how by turning a simple 3D Desk into one with an open-able / movable top drawer.

The original model had no insides, but by taking sections of the existing model, duplicating and twisting we can in fact make a full drawer without even going near shader editing!

Very ingenious. This tutorial was vital for me, because, many times, I have to modify certain models to adapt them to a situation. I have been racking my brains to find a way. Very astute, my friend, especially the part where you copy the model and rename it as a drawer. Why didn't I think of that?

    Thanks Argus.

These things are only apparently 'obvious' after you discover them. It just didn't occur to me to make life easier in this way for a year or two, until I was stuck one day. Then I thought "Why am I trying to be clever here?", just split the model. You can always group the various bits together.
