I did convert one of G2 hairs and it appeared in the G8 Smart content folder. but rhere is no add ons to open in the
G8 so i had to unfilter it and choose the G2 version to get  to the add ons. Is this usual with conversions?

It should.  At the least, materials should show up in Smart Content when you select the hair.  Which hair is this?  What are the add-ons?

Most of the hairs do show Add ons but some dont - But filtering the name of the hair brings up the original with add ons.

Another problem i found: Ibby hair-When selecting the DUF i get No hair fibers detected?

    Edited to fix quote

I am not sure what you mean?  If you filter based on name of hair, it really depends on what is selected and if Smart Content is checked.  Perhaps a screenshot?

Also, "No hair fibers detected" is not a message that the script will generate.  What do you mean?

I selected Ibby hair and several times i get a message that "No hair fibers detected" and nothing happens-This
    only happned with Ibby Hair!

But Ibby hair works fine on G2

Once the hair is converted, it is up to DS how it works.  You are sure the hair was converted?  I believe you are saying that other hair are successfully converted and show up in Smart Content?  If so, there is something different with Ibby hair and I really can't do anything about converting that specific hair.

Okay I managed to fit Ibby hair With the G3 version by Autofit.

Otherwise all other hair worked fine exept a few without the Add on - but i can locate that anyway.

Thanks for a great Product! I added 20 new hairs to G8!

Does the G3 Converter work the same way?

Hi! What is "Multi-pair hair"? And what are "Wearables" in general?

And, is there any hope that "Eloiny Hair PLUS for Victoria 4 and Genesis 2 Female(s)" would convert? Maybe at least without the hat?

I'm guessing Birthday Girl Hair would be fine, but not Scarf Braid Hair because of the scarf? Nor would Vidal Braids Hair because of the wooden things at the end of the braids?

I never used those products and many others beyond hair, out of frustration over a GPU that could barely handle 3DL. I've finally upgraded a bit to where even iray works(!), sorta, so I'm back in the game. I really appreciate products like yours which help to keep older items available to us.

Kenkoy ,multi-pair hair ,I think are hairs that are parts parented to a hair cap ,those actually can be converted you just have to un parent the parts ,save them and then convert them seperately. I have Scarf braid hair and it converted with no problem ,basically it s just try and see what happens . Sometimes it depends on how things were saved ,and can be fixed by resaving then converting .

What I mean about multi-part hair is hair that loads as multiple objects.  If a hair loads as one object with subobjects, that is fine.  I have converted both Scarf Braid Hair and Vidal Hair and they work.

Thank you RiverSoftArt and Carrie58! I'm jumping over right now to purchase this item! I've already bought the clothing converters that I need.

I wish I had the knowledge that you folks have, but it's been impossible to study, or at least remember what I study, without software that actually works. With the new GPU, things are coming together. Thanks again! [Nice image, BTW] > Edit-Background needs a little work ;-)

LOL.  Too lazy to render it smiley

  • Ok, I have used the converter on Leyton hair, and it converted fine to G8, but it's static when I move the character's head. (hair remains in poistion and clips through the back, shoulders, etc,) What am I missing here?

  • This one's not working as well for me as the G3F one does.  With that, I could select items in content library, run the script, and watch it go.  Here, if I do that route, each one loads into the script, but on execute the script log says input filename does not exist.

I can manually load the folder for each hairpiece, but that's tedious.  Or I can load a full directory, but that also snags things I don't want to convert.

Could you post the Daz log?  I want to understand what is going on.

This is strange.  The problem is that however you are adding files, it is adding the filename to the category column of the table (and the filename column is blank).

Let's reset you and see what happens.  Clear the list and hit save to exit.  Now reload the script, add some files or directories... does it happen again?  If it does, could you post the daz log?

  • Ok, cleared everything out, picked 4, ran the script.  Same errors.  Loaded two from within the script and ran it.

I've been doing the clothes all weekend, and had similar issues.

Bit about my system.  DAZ is installed on the C drive along with the core figure files.  Everything else is installed on the D drive, in either "DIM Purchased" (and installed with DIM) or "3rd party" (and manually installed)

And I use custom categories a lot.  These tests were trying to select from the catagory tree.

Ok, I am officially confused. smiley  The screenshot is all wrong.  The hair files are in the category column, and there is nothing in the conformer or filename column.  YET, your logs show that the conversion happened successfully?  If you select one of the hair rows, and then click the "Change Conformer" button, does it work?  Also, could I have a screenshot of the Options tab?

Finally, what do you mean "trying to select from the category tree"?

  • Sorry, took the screenshot before manually adding the 2 files and running them.  I can't work today, but will get that options screenshot when I can.

What I meant was selections were from content library -> categories -> hair -> g2f, as opposed to Products or Mapped Folders

  • Ok, had time to take a slideshow.

Ok, if I follow everything...  You had not cleared out the corrupt Soleil Hair entry that we knew wouldn't work.  Then you used Add Files and added Soleil hair again, and it was correct and converted fine.

I don't know HOW that corrupt entry got in your file list.  Was that using Add Directory?  If you use Add Directory now, does it work?  But anyway, you should remove it from your list.  It is never going to work.

I've done all of these manually using Add Files at this point, so these are second passes for debugging (particularly before I do V4 clothing, where the directories are less standardized).

These 3 would be before the last slide set.  I go to my category browser, select the hair, run the script, replace what was there before, and lo, a corrupt entry.  At this point the script log remains blank.

Awesome! That tells me where the bug is (trying to add a selected preset).  Please do not use that for now.  Use Add Files or Add Directory.

Thanks for debugging this with me.
