Please Help?? Purchased content now showing in Carrara 8.5

Howdy Everyone,

Tonight I just purchased the DP Shaders for Genesis 2 Female Bundle (Vic 6, Gia and The Girl 6) and for the life of me cant find it. I found it installed under the Presets folder in the Carrar folder, so I know it is there (installed via DIM), but it does not show up in the browser or anywhere else in the interface. How do I get new content to show up in Carrara? Thanks!

Rich S.

Beautiful request - as you've removed my initial questions by answering them for me... Thank you!

    Okay, follow this:
Open Carrara and go to the "Shaders" tab in the Browser
Now go to the little dark icon just on top of the browser window to the far right. Hovering the mouse on it will say: "File/Folder Menu" or something like that.
Select "Add Folder" and browse to where you've seen it installed.
EDIT: when you do this, the folder gets added to the very bottom of the list

    ***Optional method
Go to where you've seen it installed and move it into the "Skin" folder within the Presets > Shaders folder... like this:
Carrara8.5 > Presets > Shaders > Skin > [move folder into this "Skin" folder]

This will automatically add it to your browser without having to use the "Add Folder" option. In this case, to find it, go to the Shaders tab and look under "Skin", and you'll see the stuff you've placed in there. I do that for lots of things.

Scene-type products I drag into "landscapes2", while I install my own into "landscapes"

Other times I might even save the stuff in my own folder structure within the My Documents menu as seen in my article: Your Carrara Browser

The uppermost method mentioned is the official advice given. The other stuff I've developed on my own to help make everything more organized.

    Hi Dartanbeck,

Thanks!! I tried both of your suggestions (adding the folder, and copying the data to a pre-existing folder), and ultimately decided to add the folders. That way DIM will still "know" where the files are in case of an update. While doing this, I noticed that I had other shaders that came with Carrara 8.5 Pro, that weren't showing up either. These are the Digital Painter Shaders, so I went ahead and added that folder as well. I wonder if there is any other "missing" content.... Thanks again for your help!

Perfect choice, in my opinion. I enjoy keeping DIM installs left the way DIM places them, fully utilizing the power of the DIM ;)
Rock on, and happy rendering, my friend!
