How do I manually install content?

There is a lot of free stuff out there, and third party materioal such as good boxing gloves.  I don't know how to install all of the third party materials; until I know how, I won't be able to do what I want to do.  (In a holding pattern until I get this one!)

Thanks--LOVE Daz, and am looking forward to using the new version...been away fora long time!

    It's rather simple:

    1. Extract the content zip in a temp directory
    2. Locate the "root folder" in the extracted files: it will be the one containing the main folders like Runtime, Data, People...
    3. Take all the folders you find in that root folder and move them in your DS content directory (by default the "My library" folders in Documents) so that the new Runtime merges with existing Runtime folder, new Data with existing Data, and so on.
    4. Content should now be available via DS content library tab. There's a good chance it won't appear in smart content though as it probably won't include metadata for it.

1 and 2 are easy.  3. is a challenge--or I'm over tired, or just having a brain cramp.  where is the "Documents" folder that should have "My Library"?

    THANKS!

Copy all the folders from the Zip exept Documents and paste them in to your My Library folder in Documents/DAZ/Studio/My Library

If its Wardrobe stuff you will find them in the Content Library on the top - Daz studio formats/My Library/People/G3f, G8 M etc/ Clothes
If it is a prop you will find it under Props. If its Envirorment you will find it under Envirorments etc

To learn where your library or libraries are;  in Studio open Edit / Preferences / Content tab / Content Directory Manager (button at bottom).  When the Manager opens click the little arrowhead by DAZ Studio Formats and Poser Formats to see all the libraries Studio knows.

hi, I'm having the same problem. I have some content that DIM (and DAZ Central) is not detecting. if I install the files manually, how do I make them appear on my Smart Content view?

  • hi,i have some problems here,i reinstalled daz studio, but the folder My Daz 3D library no longer appears

  • This use to be easy. I just got all new everything. I've reinstalled Daz to the latest version. In My Documents there is a Daz 3D folder with 2 folders in that; Hexagon and Studio. I open the Studio folder and get 3 more folders; My Daz Connect Library, My Library, Render Library. All 3 of those folders are currently empty. No Runtime, Data, People, etc. Just empty. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do with that. I'm hoping there might be an answer here.

If you are going to use the default folders you might as well just isntall with DIM, Daz central, or even through Daz Studio itself (for most content from Daz).
