Creating your own Normals and Specular

As i bought Chandra and Victoria 7 there were for each Bodypart Specular and Normal Maps.

Now i tried to make my own Textures with Shader map 4 and Crazybump. As i render my own maps on my Chars i et only Errors on The Char. the different Maps are not fitting. i got only hard Edges. If i use the Original Maps i got a good Picture, bu with my own i got only Problems.

Beside that. My Specular Map is mostly Grayscale with Darker Parts. he Original Specular Maps are all Dark with 100% White Parts. I cannot set the setup to the same Pictures that are shipped with the Char.

How did the Artist made the Maps anyway ? The Origina are hard Black and Hard White. my Maps are only grayscale.

I was looking on youtube and Goofgle to find some Tutorials, but there was nothing.

How are you making the base maps, which you feed into the other tools?

I got Oriinal Diffuse Maps, from wich i produce the Normal, Bump and the Specular Maps. All from One Texture.

With Vicctoria 7 i got Original maps wich i must Link into my Diffuse Map. But if i use a Diffuse Map as a Base for Specular, Bump, Displacement and Normal i got ony Edges.

I am not able to get my Maps right working on.

With Sadermap 4 i got a relly good Preview, but i cannot set them Up like this in Cinema 4d.

In Cinema 4d the Displacement Funktion isnt fine enough.

If i use Crazybump i got a well Rounded.Texture and the Edges in the Texturte are wrong. I may change the Regicnition Shader for a plane Texture but it isnt working.

At the Moment i am absolutely dont know what  am doing wrong.

Please give the character some clothing or zoom in to show only the head and shoulders. Also please don't show textures derived from the Daz maps as flat textuers, rather than wrapped around a model (and note that you can't share the results of your modifications as textures, rather than rendered images).

The tools are picking up the edges of the UV islands (the areas that provide textures) because there is an abrupt change of tone there. The Victoria 7 maps already include bump and specular maps in any event.

Here is my Final render with my own experimental Shaders. I am using my Demo Version from Shadermap v4. I allready tried the Original Specular Maps and they are working fine. But how do i get the Bad Lines in the Skin and head ? If i have a single Diffuse Map and i want to create my own Specular and Normal i got only Problem at the moment. As i have said i use the Demo from Shadermap v4 and i dont know if i can get better Maps with the Full Version.

The Normals have allways a round Egde. But i need them to be flat. I still have Problems to Handle Shadermap and i dont know if it would be good to get the Full Version.

You may need to try filling the background with a colour close to the skin tone. You might try masking  it and putting a very blurred copy of the imaeg behind it, for example.
